Harvard, Brown and Princeton

@Penn95 @merc81 is there anything else I should be doing to strengthen my application? S

Unless you increase your ACT to a 34+, your chances will be very slim. Other than that, your GPA and EC’s are definitely competitive. Also, you should definitely try the SAT. I think that the main difference between the two is the time allotted for the SAT vs ACT. SAT gives significantly more time on the reading portions per question than the ACT (although the questions are arguably slightly more difficult), so it works better for slower readers. There is also no science on the SAT and the math is really simple IMO (pretty much algebra with 4 pre calc questions). Personally, I found greater success in the SAT because it just feels more organized, and I was able to finish with time remaining on the reading section, in contrast to running out of time on the ACT the one time I took it.

Though it may have been lost in the fine print (reply #16), the OP reached a 35 (nice job @alexandra00!) on her ACT, @NotABonobo.

@merc81 Thanks! :slight_smile:

@BKSquared @merc81 @anonpenn2022 @oldschooldad Update! I applied ED to Brown. I sent in the 800 Bio E a 760 in L. I also managed to get a 35 Composite and a 36 Super Score! I was also wondering if you’d like to take a look at my brown essays, I will most likely be recycling most of them for HYP.

Congrats on your score! Good luck with Brown next week (?). If you get deferred or rejected, you can PM me with the key essays you want some feedback on. No promises, depends on my schedule.

Hey there. Ive attended three different colleges and I am very curious why are you applying to these three universities in particular? Can you afford more than 40,000 a year in tuition and other fees?

@steffenberr My mom went to Harvard, I love Brown (I EDed). Princeton came to visit my school. It was the first time a prestigious ever did so. I enjoyed it. My family has been saving forever for college.

@alexandra00 good for you. You are exactly the type of student that should be going to a top college. Good luck and don’t listen to the naysayers. Some colleges are just better than others even though some will not admit it. Keep us updated!
