<p>True, but that sentence is so generic that it borders on bland and meaningless, so it shouldn’t be used in a college essay anyway. </p>

<p>If you re-read the Crimson article, it says:</p>

Fitzsimmons said that the College has been using online resources since they became available over a decade ago. But the admissions committee also depends, as it has since before these online resources became available, on admissions officers’ intuition.

<p>So when Harvard reads your example-sentence, they’ll see it as a cliche and won’t think you stole the words from someone else.</p>
