Crazy that all of the other Ivies let applicants know of the notification date for EA/ED decisions last week (including those not hearing until Dec. 18th) and Harvard hasn’t told students anything yet!

Deferred. Our Harvard adventure is most likely over. It was a long shot and a good experience for my son to interview. Congrats to any who got in and good luck to those that are waiting!!

People do get accepted after being deferred though. I do not think your child’s odds went down – they just had their decision delayed.

As a follow up for others who might check on this next year. My son was waitlisted after being deferred REA. 1540 SAT, 4.0 uw, small school in the south, very few APs, more Dual Enrollment. Multi-sport and tons of leadership. Had a great interview with a friendly Alumni. High quality essays that highlighted his strengths, small school that felt like family and felt Harvard would provide the same, intellectual curiosity, joy in sports involvement, and showing empathy and the importance of listening in an argument, finding common ground and not having to prove your point. High reach for him. He will release his waitlist spot as he is committed and excited to attend our in-state school with an excellent engineering program.

I looked him up (i.e. francemorga) online. He did get in REA.
