I don’t think it was one factor. D is from California and spent her last two years at an east coast boarding school, so wanting to try something different wasn’t as much of a factor. Also, she is very independent-minded…not likely to be swayed by the “Harvard because it’s Harvard” mentality.</p>
<p>So in the end, I think it was a combination of what is available academically for a pre med/ biomedical major, the perception that students are more easy-going and down to earth at Stanford, and the fact that it is in California.</p>
