Harvard's social life...

Totally apples and oranges IMHO. The eating clubs at Princeton change the scene dramatically. There’s a lot more unrestricted drinking at Princeton than at Harvard for that reason. Obviously this has pros and cons depending on what you like to do with your Thursday nights. (Sue me, I recommend a fake ID to prospective Harvard students, even if you aren’t much of a drinker. Thanks to some entrepreneurs, they’re very easy to get and not that expensive.)

I fell in love with my boyfriend when, after I told him I went to Harvard after meeting him at a party, he asked me the next day (on our first date) where i went to school again. It was so refreshing not to have the usual overreaction/defensiveness. What a guy!

Maybe if he’d heard you the first time, he would have been afraid to ask you out. As has been shown, the H-Bomb is dangerous for girls to drop!

my, you fall in love easily.

Hanna, how much do the fake IDs cost? PM me the answer please if you dont want to post it here.

HH05…hahaha

you crack me up

Oh, I completely agree. H-Bomb > Y-Card. I guess my last post was kind of confusing.

In response to the original post, the only reports I have come accross that reflect on or measure the Harvard social scene are the 2 reports below:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachusetts/articles/2005/03/29/poll_shows_harvard_student_satisfaction_behind_most_elite_schools/</a></p>

<a href=“Harvard University (StudentsReview) - College Reviews Student Opinion and Undergraduate College Ranking and Comments”>Harvard University (StudentsReview) - College Reviews Student Opinion and Undergraduate College Ranking and Comments;

Byerly: If someone dropped an HYPSM or XYZ bomb on me my first instinct would be to laugh, but the reality is, I would probably feel bad for them. Talk about the hieght of insecurity!

“Talk about the hieght of insecurity!”

what does that have to do with insecurity?

It actually has more to do with taking advantage of the people who are easily impressed, really. You drop it very casually. You don’t go up to a random girl in a club and say “Hey I go/went to Harvard. Wanna ****?” I don’t think many Harvard students are insecure.

And if you get asked where you go to school, its not like you should lie about it? Why be ashamed of going to a good school…

Because if you go to HYP (H, more so) and you mention that you go there, you are being a showoff!

yeah but if somebody asks you and you answer, then your not

Obviously not. I was being sarcastic, poking fun at the people who don’t realize that.

“I was being sarcastic, poking fun at the people” – You prove my point (incredible insecurity)

Anyway, unless someone can show me evidence of a social scene that differs from that detailed in the 2 web sites referenced above, then HH05 and Byerly, it sounds like your Hbombs are not detonating when they land.

h-bombs don’t land, they detonate in the air high above land…

yes, i know i’m an idiot, but i just couldn’t help myself that time…lol :)

How is it insecure to poke fun at people who think that just because you are telling them where you attend school, that you are being a show off? Please explain your line of logic to me.

The first link is bull. Here is why:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showpost.php?p=667157&postcount=12</a></p>

But then again, it seems you’re pretty insistent on the validity of that survey.

As for studentsreview.com–for a school like Harvard, I wouldn’t trust it too much. You never know what kind of people with too much free time would do on sites like that. If you do want some positive comments about Harvard’s social life, check out the '09 Prefrosh Yahoo group ( <a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos; ). Hell, I’ll post an email about social life there for you.:

This is from “Becca,” from the class of '08.

This thread is fascinating. I know that according to US News - for what it’s worth - Penn would be the 2nd P in HYPP (and farther down for other people), but I am happy that I can wear my school logos with pride (both Wharton and Penn) and not have to worry about ***ing people off for no good reason. But above all, it seems that I should be most happy that I get nothing but respect when I tell people where I went to school (both Wharton and Penn). Seems like being a female Whartonite is much easier than being a female at Harvard or Yale. It annoys me that people give you guys s*t for that. That’s ridiculous. Screw em.
