Has anyone driven a UHaul 14 foot 3 passenger truck a long distance?

We would have rented the smaller truck but we need the 3 passenger vehicle because there will be 3 of us traveling.

So you are driving it both ways?

No. we are driving one way and taking public transportation back

How far are you driving? We did a trip from northern NH to CT and it was fine, but not the most comfortable ride on the planet.

I also did it years ago from NH to Illinois. That was a very long trip…mostly because we got a flat tire along the way. UHaul sent another truck out to us, but we had to reload a whole truck! No fun. Again…not the most comfortable ride on the planet.

As I said earlier, just plan to stop frequently enough to walk around and get the bumpy ride feel out of your system.

Questbest - I did about the same as what you are doing…when D graduated from college in 2012, we rented a 14 foot U-haul to move her stuff. (This is when H was just out of a month long hospital stay after major emergency surgery, missed her graduation, and wasn’t able to help with the move.)

Anyhow, we (D & I, not H) rented the truck here in northern CT, put some stuff from home in the truck, and drove it to her off-campus house in central PA, packed all her stuff from the house, and then drove straight down to her new apartment in downtown Baltimore. Drove it around the block a couple times until I found a parking spot where it could be unloaded…returned it in Baltimore and took the train back to CT.

It wasn’t horrible. Highway driving was fine, the downtown driving was pretty nerve wracking. Hard get used to to no windows in the back of the cab, and relying on side mirrors to see behind.

If I can do it, you (or your H) can do it!

How far are you driving? I’d be tempted to just caravan with the smaller truck and a car.
