I have a 2018 Macbook Air that isn’t always happy when I have 10 different tabs opened! Otherwise still works great until last week. For some reason it shuts down and won’t power up until plugged in when on battery, even though I am showing 80-85% battery. Battery health still shows normal, and number of cycles is still at the low level. This is not my original battery.
Have been searching online and a couple of fixes didn’t help. I don’t want to pay to have it serviced as it might be an expensive fix that isn’t worth the money on a 7 year old laptop, especially since in the Apple world, it is vintage or obsolete.
I have a local shop that is Apple certified that has serviced office and home Macs and PCs. I guess I could have them run a diagnostic test on it for about $99, but I keep eyeing a new Macbook! Costco current has it on sale, so trying to decide if I want to spend the money right now. In the meantime, I have been backing it up nightly (usually only did it monthly) in the event it fails. This is a personal computer, so nightly is more than sufficient for a backup; if I lose a meme I saved, I think I will survive!
