I would leave the laptop charging overnight without regard to the placement of the cord, for instance. I know that there are times that I’ve closed the laptop where the cord is caught and keeps it from closing all the way. Or, I often go to bed with a podcast playing on my laptop and place my phone case on the keyboard to make sure the top doesn’t fully close so that it doesn’t stop playing on me (I set a timer so it shuts off after I fall asleep, hopefully). Anyway, I did those things with my 10yo laptop and never had a problem, but clearly new models are more sensitive.
