thnx guyss! im really excited! hehehe!

When you apply to Penn and many others, you are required to state your major because you are actually being admitted to that particular school within the university. Some schools within a university are more competitve than others. You can not just walk in and change your major if it is not within the same school; you have to re-apply. For instance, if you applied to the Smeal Business School at Penn State, you can not show up the first day of school and say I want to be an engineering major. You would have to apply to the school of engineering, and if you weren’t accepted, you would have to stay within the business school.

They said that they’ve made my decision and the decision will come in the mail… But that was about a week ago. Should I worry? Is this bad news?

sempergumby r u serious?..ok, this is what i did…i cudnt see the majors they had in university park in their booklet, so i wrote down a major of another college- Harrisburg to be specific! Even though i wrote down first campus choice- University PArk!..what shud i do?

Ok I got it changed!!! Thank GOD! I put Smeal college of business as my #1 choice and College of Arts and Sciences as # 2…is that good? how competitive are both?

Well, I assume Smeal is harder since it’s business school. Probably should have something like a 1300 SAT.

I’m not sure if you can actually say that it’s hard to get into so and so. It really all depends on your stats. I heard getting into the Eberly College of Science is hard, but I didn’t find much difficulty in doing so.

look, despite what they tell you, it doesn’t matter what college you’re admitted into, unless you were going for something where you had to audition/submit a portfolio. you can always change majors, always double major. I’ve never heard of anyone who’s had a problem with changing. I mean, it’s not like they restrict the classes to majors only (w/ exception of the arts programs), so once you’re in, you’re in. don’t worry so much about it. btw, don’t worry about their web app message that the decision is coming, b/c they do that to everyone. they just like knowing that you find out first when you get the big envelope saying “congratulations”.

Does anyone got accepted to Eerie campus with GPA 2.7?

What if i apply tomorrow (jan 5th) to University Park? Will I get in with 1400 sat, 4.1 GPA, all-toughest classes, and good EC’s? Or is it too late for anything but perfection?

Has anyone got accepted with Regular Decision?

Jelda, I don’t know if you’re just screwing around, but if you aren’t you should really look into the college, It’s spelled Erie, as long as your test scores are OK you have a shot and they have rolling admissions.

Braingriffin- you’ll be fine. You’re really close to perfection. Just use the online app TODAY and get some self esteem.

geeeezz~, it’s type error, sorri maggiemoo!

PSU had my complete application finished on October 28th, and as of 1/5/05, they reached a decision (finally!)

is this a bad or good sign that its this late?

wow, that’s a really long time for them to have waited… I submitted mine later than that (I think it was over thanksgiving break) and I got my response back within 4 business days. I would guess that your test scores and gpa put you borderline, so they had to gasp actually read your application.

Dont worry…mine took about as long…they recieved my app about the same time they got urs…and i got a sdecision about the 1-2nd week of december!!! Im sure its a gooid thign…what were ur stats?

not too good, 3.52 unweighted, 1240 out of state, alot of leadership positions and extra cirriculars, sat 2’s were 620 and 690…

I submitted the optional essay, too. I also sent my 1st quarter grades (6 A’s and 1 B)

What do you guys think are my chances?

I think you have a good chance…my GPA was higher than urs…but my SAT’s were about the same!!!
I heard they dotn really read optional essays ppl send in! Im not 2 sure…anyways that doent matter…ur quarter grades look good!:P

thanks for your comments tamy02, how long did it take you to receive your notification? It says they reached the decision on 1/5/05, is it possible I will get it tomorrow, 1/8/05?

yes, you’ll probably get it tomorrow…or if not on monday!!! Good luck with that…and im sure it’ll be good newss!
Waiting is the worst part of it all…especially when you know they’ve made a decision! AHHH!!! Let me know how thigns turn out…post as soon as you hear something!
