I’ve only told one person at my school and he is applying to different schools than I am. I’ve told none of my friends. I don’t really know what I’ll do if I get in to any of the schools I applied to. I haven’t planned what I’ll do. I think there will be less drama if I wait until after school ends. But I’m just happy to know that I’m not the only person that didn’t tell everyone.

I told only a few friends first, but word got out, and people just throw reasons I should stay at me every second of the day! Even though I told them I’m not getting in, they insist I will. Also, I’m being ostracized by my closest friends for “leaving them”!

Well when you leave that school your make new friends. Believe me if I got into VS so will you and I did terrible on the Maths test. What test do you do in America in THE UK we do Science,Maths,Verbal Reasoning, Comphersion, English

We do the ISEE or SSAT or SAT depending on the grade we’re applying to

I started out only telling some of my closest friends, but of course they told people, those people told people, and so on. I feel like most people know now. lol

It’s rather annoying to me how everyone thinks I will definitely get in just because I have straight As or something. I don’t think they understand how hard it is to get into these schools honestly. It’s going to be quite awkward if I am rejected and have to tell everyone.

@20alison16 Exactly!!! I feel like I have an enormous amount of pressure on me to get accepted because people think that only excelling in school matters for admission
It’ll be so hard telling people if I’m rejected because they think that there’s no way I won’t get in

Don’t feel bad if you didn’t tell anyone. I only told a few people I was going to a boarding school. My teachers don’t even know I’m here :P

Hahaha orangesrule108 how did you get recs?

At first I kept it quiet but then the teachers I had to tell bc of recs started asking me about applications in front of my friends.
things got awkward quickly… But when I told my two best friends they were so incredibly supportive! I’m going to miss them so much when-- I mean if-- (come on kath don’t jinx yourself now of all days!) I go to boarding school

Aww I’m so happy to know you’re friends were supportive!

Yeah, the funny thing is that I have another friend who’s the exact opposite, but I have realized she just isn’t a good friend-- it’s amazing what people’s reactions say about them

I guess my friends aren’t true friends after all, then…

Aww I didn’t mean to offend you… Sorry? Unless of course you don’t like them either

You know I shouldn’t have said that. Really sorry

LOL, it’s okay. My friends and I have started drifting apart. I seem to be the only one truly focused on my future, etc.
I like your honesty-keep it up!

Athenarocks I think GoldenRatio knows you didn’t mean it like that :)

Thanks guys

My good friends are very supportive, but I’ve had a few people get weirdly angry with me, sort of taking it personally. And then there are a few people who’ve befriended me since they found out I got in, as I’m currently at a girls’ school but going to a prestigious mixed school known (among other things) for the wealth of its students.
