Just make sure to wash all produce well and never handle slugs or snails in Hawaii! A nasty parasite is being spread by these slimy creatures on the Big Island and Maui. Avoid any green smoothies from roadside stands.

When we visited Maui, each night as we walked along the path to go to dinner passing all of the big fancy hotels we could see various luau shows to the extent that we felt satisfied not paying to sit through one. You might try this tactic!
We recently strayed at a Marriott in Wailea. In one of the buildings, the entire side was facing the luau area. Majority of folks staying in those rooms could watch the show for free - from their lanais! Of course they did not get to eat the food, but the price couldn’t be cheaper! 
That is exactly what I am talking about! And guess what, we didn’t miss the food. We are not buffet people anyway. If we had been with young kids we would have done the whole experience though.
