<p>More info–spoke with the insurance folks at Anthem & USC today. There are actually 2 different policies–one for kids who attend USC & another for kids who are students but doing a term away from campus. The rate is slightly higher for the latter group but doesn’t require that the USC student health center is the base for all referrals and visits.<br>
Either policy does allow the student to see a doc when & where the student is away from LA for summer or Christmas break, subject to the deductible & co-payments. It’s said to be a pretty good policy, as long as the student remains in school with at least 6 credits.<br>
A problem arises for kids who have to leave school (e.g. due to illness) & thus lose their insurance coverage.</p>
