So I have been accepted to the University of Pittsburgh. I currently I have all the grade requirements for Pitt. But i recently learned that i got a 59 on my AP Chem midterm. I’ve had a C in the class, and with this midterm, I fear the final grade might become a D. Will this one D make Pitt revoke my acceptance?

Surely a phone call to Pitt will give you a better understanding of where you stand…

If you’re worried this will “call it to their attention” – first, no it won’t. They will notice this summer. Guaranteed. Second, make up a name and turn off caller ID when you call if you’re not convinced.

Wait, i’m in the exact same situation. I got into pitt and I have a borderline c/d ap chem grade. if you call pitt, let me know! i’m freaking out

I agree with mikemac, you need to call Pitt and explain what is going on. If you had a C when you were accepted but the grade is starting to dip, just let them know. Acknowledge whatever is causing the dip on your part (i.e. bad managing time, etc.) and explain how you are working on raising the grade back to a higher one. If you at least acknowledge it up front it will be better than getting a call from THEM later on saying you can’t go.

Also, to actually answer your question, Pitt can revoke acceptances if your grades have dropped from what you had when you applied. That’s why people who get in early are frequently reminded that they have to keep their grades high the WHOLE year (no senior slump) because that is the level of academics the college is expecting from them.

Sarah, tom36d needs to discuss his grades with Pitt, and so do you. “Well, this guy online called, and he said that you said that he’d be OK, so I just figured…” is not the right way for you to handle your situation. When you’re done freaking out (which is a totally understandable reaction to being in a very tense position), call them.

And remember, since Pitt has already accepted you, they would rather find a way to keep you than have to reject and replace you. They want to make this work out almost as much as you do.
