Discrete math is more applicable to computer science majors and as practice with math proofs for math majors, though it can certainly be taken as an elective for students interested in it.

Discrete is useful in some EE applications (which ones…don’t ask me ). I know my son had to self learn it for some circuits stuff he was working on. It might be useful for a a ME with a mechatronics concentration.
