I second this. UMBC tuition and fees are about $12K/year (in state).
With books and transportation, etc., maybe closer to $15K.
Sounds like that is about what you can afford. $5K-$10K parents’ contribution + $5K-$10K in student “self help”.
The schools most likely to offer net prices that low, after merit awards, probably won’t be academically stronger than UMBC. Maybe not more attractive in other ways, either. If UMBC isn’t within commuting distance, maybe another state school is?
