"Help Me Find This Gift" Thread

@abasket If you want “adult level,” look at Sapiens by Harari (nonfiction) and Overstory by Powers (fiction and winner of Booker Prize). These are sophisticated books for intellectual readers but are also highly popular with a mainstream audience. My 15 year old son has read them both.

I have 9 yo and 14 yo boys and a pre-teen girl coming for Christmas. Was thinking of some kind of puzzle or activity book along with cash as a gift. Any suggestions?

^^^ How about either actual puzzles (like 500 or 1000 piece) or doodling/art supplies (good markers/pencils, sketch pad).

The Rhino with Glue On Shoes might be a little juvenile for him. I agree with The Elephant Whisperer! Any recs for 20something males??? Two nephews always slump me!

@mom2and When my D was in the preteen early teen years she really enjoyed a gift of some pretty origami paper and an origami how to book. Good quality colored pencils were a hit as well. What about some games? There are some fun card games such as sushi go, love letter, set. Sculpey modeling clay is fun.

I was going to suggest origami also. It was always a hit.

@mom2and My local quirky shop has really difficult maze books. We kept them in the car to keep the late elementary/middle school crowd occupied when driving an hour or so to the big city. They had to use their fingers instead of a pencil which meant more people could do them, plus it made backtracking harder.

@Happy4yu Do the guys like/need tools like screwdrivers that ratchet? Swiss army knives?
