D1 and SIL remodeled their master bath when they lived in CA. Huge wet room concept bathroom with custom one of kind tile inset. (SIL designed a waterfall that was a non-repeating fractal pattern… it took the architect nearly 2 months to find a craftsman who would agree to work on it. But I digress….)
They installed a top-of-the-line Kohler one piece toilet with built-in bidet (Veil). Comfort height, heated seat, heated adjustable water spray, choice of 5 spray patterns, self-cleaning both bidet nozzle AND toilet bowl, plus other feature, control panel on the wall beside the toilet. Really nice toilet. Unfortunately they moved about 6 months after the bathroom remodel was completed, but I stayed on in the house another 5 months while the rest of the remodeling on the house and ADU was being completed. I used that nice toilet the entire time after they left. It was really lovely….sigh.
I’m contemplating doing a facelift/upgrade of my current small bath. (House is from the 50s, last bathroom update was done in the 90s.) I’ve already replaced all the light fixtures, replaced and moved all the towel bars and TP holder, added a robe hook beside the shower and placed a small, narrow standalone cabinet along the wall opposite the toilet/vanity to hold TP, Kleenex and laundry detergent.
At a minimum I want to replace the oxidized aluminum shower door w/ the rusty screws with a frameless glass door, replace the 36” very basic Ikea-type vanity with a taller vanity that is better organized, replace the plate mirror with a framed mirror, and if possible add an electrical outlet between the toilet and vanity so the so I can replace the current 35 yo toilet with a new bidet toilet with heated spray. If I go all out, I’ll replace the ugly floor tile and the shower tile as well, along with a new shower assembly and shower head. Then paint the whole thing.
I noticed a kitchen and bath showroom a couple of doors down from the coffee roaster the other day. I might go talk to them about my options.
