Help me! Wash U vs Georgetown

liverbird09,

The yield could be due to a number of things. Many applicants simply can’t get over the “prestige factor” and will attend a name school over WashU. The application for WashU also requires considerably less effort than Georgetown’s. WashU’s yield is similar to its peer schools (Hopkins, etc.).

The strength of the students at WashU definitely doesn’t suffer:

WashU: 1380 - 1540
Georgetown: 1310 - 1490

WashU had 241 National Merit scholars in the class of '11; Georgetown was not in the top ten (fewer than 150).

I know that both schools are excellent academically, I just wanted to provide this information for keb.
