<p>wbwa: Actually, I feel the buildings at Rice are more like USC or UCLA. Both of those campuses gave me the same feel as Rice even though UCLA has hills. Rice does have a medical center nearby just like Stanford, but at Stanford it merges with the campus and Rice has a very separate campus.</p>

<p>I’d agree USC/UCLA’s buildings are overall pretty similar. Certainly, a lot less ivy and an even rarer gargoyle population compared to eastern schools. But I’d give the palm tree nod to USC. I also find their campus much more manicured and oasis-like than almost any other I’ve visited, certainly less open than Rice. With 5 times the undergrad student body and a similar sized campus, no great surprise.</p>
