<p>Federal academies(maritime):US Coast Guard Academy; US Merchant Marine Academy; US Naval Academy; (US Military Academy; US Air Force Academy-non maritime).</p>
<p>The other maritime academies are state. The difference is the federal academies are funded and regulated by the federal government while the others are state-funded for the most part. The federal academies, other than the Coast Guard, require an appointment, usually by a congressman or senator.</p>
<p>You can get a job on a ship after graduating from a state academy. They all lead to a license. You can also get a commission to the services if you are an ROTC student.</p>
<p>The key for you is to find out if Turkey has an agreement with the US allowing its citizens to attend an academy. Since Turkey is part of NATO I can’t see why not.</p>
