LOVE my one year old Bosch DW. Cleans so well, stainless interior, quiet.
Really it was about $550. WHEN it breaks, I might replace it (hopefully not soon).

This Bosch replaced my nine year old $1100 Kitchenaid DW that became unfixable.
We’ve gone over to disposable applicances it seems.

Latest update…the GE Profile side by side is NOT energy star rated at all. The French door one is…so we are now thinking of that. And DH says if our local appliance place carries the Bosch which is consistently high rated…I can get that too.

Sheesh.

I DID remind my husband that somehow 18 years ago we bought SEVEN appliance without reading ONE rating on any of them. Remarkably they are all still working!

Not to throw a wrench into your decision, especially because I’ve had repeated bad luck with the GE Profile Side by Side refrigerator - but mine were energy star rated and when I check GE’s website (not HD or Lowes) and select energy star appliances, it pulls several side by side, not just french doors, as Energey Star rated? Of course, I could be misinterpreting how that is listed.

Not everything is disposable, we’ve had two portable dishwashers in the 30 years we’ve lived here- Both Kenmore/whirlpool. I dont think we spent more than $350 for either one, and the current one looks like its good for at least a few more years.
Still looking at refrigerators.
But since the undercabinet coffeemaker I bought is actually about 3/4" shy of going underneath, I also am looking for a microwave that can go where the coffeepot went ( we need a new one anyway), then the coffeemaker can go where the microwave was.

Thumper, I had to laugh at your comment about choosing all of those appliances 18 years ago without reading any reviews. I think it’s because all brands of appliances were made better back then. I have all of my original kitchen appliances, with the exception of one, and they are 22 years old. (I didn’t read any reviews, either. ) Oh boy, I hope I didn’t just jinx myself!

Threeofthree, my model is the counter depth model. I have the print out right in front of me and the CURRENT model is not energy star rated at all. My 18 year old one was…but the current counter depth model is NOT.

So sorry, was just looking in general - forgot about the counter-depth limitation.

Im * still* looking at refrigerators. We did get a new coffeemaker & microwave though.

With my surgery in a couple weeks, I am going to need a freezer on this level, for ice packs & popsicles. We’ve been looking, but most everything is bigger/more expensive than we need. We’ve been getting along with a dorm size fridge & a chest freezer in the basement( & a root cellar), & are looking for one that is no wider than 30". It would be nice to have moveable shelves in case I needed to stick a turkey in there.

I don’t care about an ice maker or water in the door, Im looking at bottom freezer- single door. Probably Kitchenaid, but I don’t remember what they look like on the inside & I cant find interior pics online. I dont want LED lights cause I need more light to see- so that rules out Samsung & LG, I think. Our bedroom is next to the kitchen, so I don’t want noisy either.

The subzero sounds great- but I have no idea what their prices are and I dont really need one that is built in.
We were going to remodel the kitchen and move where we put the refrigerator, but unfortunately the surgery is going to happen first so we need it soon.
