Here we go again.....Blackberries

Hooooorayyyyy. I agree with the whole thing regarding interruptions. Paying for a ticket doesn’t give one right to disrupt.

AMEN!!! In October, I went with my DD and her Criminal Justice class to Washington, DC and Quantico, VA. We were able to spend one full day at the FBI Academy, tour the facility, and attend a graduation ceremony of new agents. I was so disappointed that so many crying, talking, screaming children ruined such a nice ceremony.

I have decided that when my DD marries, I will include on the invitation, “In order to provide a more pleasant atmosphere for all, we have childcare available for children four and younger.” I would much rather do that than stand up and ask someone to remove their child from the ceremony. It’s amazing to me how many people don’t understand the way invitations work. If the inner envelope says “Mark and Mary”, it doesn’t mean Mark, Mary and children.

Oops, sorry! I’m getting off the subject. Maybe I should include “And please leave the cell phones and Blackberries at home, too!”

Hehehe… very good.

Isnt the whole point of attending a concert or movie to RELAX???
how can you be relaxed when you are sending messages or talking on the phone?
Granted when your little child is fussing it is pretty hard to relax, and I have offered to take little children out in the hall, so that their parents can enjoy the show ( when they know me)- since you can’t hear anyway- you might as well go outside
I can’t wait till we go away at christmas- cell phones don’t work- and although the lodge has a phone- it rarely rings for me- and the callers are usually discussing how to groom the ski trails.

I think it is a great idea to have baby sitters at weddings. even if the kids are on the invite- they may have a better time not having to sit still and quiet for hours.
They used to have quiet rooms at movie theaters too- how come that is so rare now?
And to go off onto a side issue- are baby sitters really so hard to get that you need to take your 6 year old to totally inappropriate movies?
I was traumatized enough when I was a young teen by my mother taking me to movies she didnt’ want to attend alone- I can’t imagine what effect something like Kill Bill is having on an 8 year old.
ok Im done ;)

I thought cell phone/Blackberry etiquette was already established:

At the beginning of any concert (at, say, Carnegie Hall) they ask you to turn OFF your cell phones.

Even at a 5th graders concert I would expect the user to get up and leave if he had to use his device.

I exchanged emails with a work colleague last night. First I phoned him, but he couldn’t hear me so he sent me an email from his Blackberry. But he was at a hockey game!!!

So that would be a puck in a patch? Or a berry in the sticket?
