Crap, I realized that I need to redo my essay ~X(
this essay sucks
This is just a feel-good news story about a local teenager, and quite frankly we can nitpick his application all day but it doesn’t do anything to change anything. Also remind yourselves of the majority of parents reading this article; chances are that their students cannot write this well, even if some MAY write better.
It’s a feel good piece and I’m content with feeling good for this young man! Congratulations to Mr. Enin!
The essay was fine. You don’t have to be a Pulitzer Prize writer to be intelligent and proficient at HYP. Moreover, why are we assuming that he would have written something overly-sophisticated? He wrote an essay on his views of music and how he’s now able to treat life in a very interdisciplinary fashion. The ideas are there, and it is grammatically sound. Could have been better, but, it was actually above average considering his circumstances and race. I would have admitted him. There are so many jerks getting admitted to these schools because it’s not impossible to look interesting on paper if you present yourself well, in that your accomplishments do not necessarily say much about your character. If you’ve seen any interviews with this kid, he’s humble, caring, and dedicated. A fine, fine person. You all are sour.
