Hey Folks -

we’re on #9 and yeah, it’s still out of 10

That’s plain ridiculous that you guys are already on test #9. I don’t think we got past 3 or 4 before christmas break.

I think it says a lot about this class of plebes that they have accomplished so much so quickly! Yeah Class of 2010!

It also says a lot about their “guides” in this endeavor - I’m not clear exactly who does what, but I know my plebe’s got a lot of respect for the upperclassmen that have been in charge. I’m sure this has helped the class get to this point so quickly.

I sure hope they do get recognized before Christmas - what a treat to come back from break and have some nice privileges during the LONG COLD winter!

Sorry guys but this will NOT happen. If it does I will withdraw all my future donations to the school, well maybe for a year or two anyway. There is something to be learned by “roughing” it for longer than six months.

recognize 2010!!!

Quote: I think it says a lot about this class of plebes that they have accomplished so much so quickly! Yeah Class of 2010!

That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The RTOA has made their PKTs easy. He has repeated the same test every week until the plebes passed. Also, he has distributed the answers to plebe reps. so they can print the questions and answers out, and then they post them inside the bathroom stalls so the plebes can study. I mean if you can’t pass that kind of test how can you be expected to pass a physics exam? I am not insulting the class of 2010, but they do not deserve any recognition for their “accomplishments” up to this point other than being able to stick it out one academic term. Some individuals have accomplished something by performing at their peak in academics and sports but the class as a whole hasn’t yet even been through the toughest times at school for a plebe.

I think the reason the people in the white house want us to be recognized is that we can move on to job training instead of plebe for a lack of a better term BS… basicaly they want to train us after recognition to get us ready for sea…

you’ll be well prepared for sea no matter when you are recognized. Although you may not realize it now that ‘plebe bs’ will prepare you well for future endeavors. I still fall back on some of the lessons learned that year to this day, particularly the ‘memorize a ton of useless facts’ lesson.

I asked my son about your statement and below is his answer:

“No they don’t put the pkts up for us or give us the same one over and over again. We make pkt study guides and put them up ourselves. Then they were complaining that the pkts were too easy even though they were the same ones from last year. So they went from 10 questions to 25 questions, and are much harder but we still study and pass them.”

He is of the belief that they should continue to study and pass the PKT because they have shown that they are able. He feels that there will be another way to show their unity and get recognized, a way different from what others have done.

You mean the PKT’s were only 10 questions long last year? What the heck is happening to my Alma Mater. First it’s Met’s games, then liberty pretty much every weekend, and now 10 question PKT’s (glad to see it went to 25 this year). Wow is all i can say, things have definately changed in the few years I have been away from the school.

Recognize the class of 2010!!

Hey KP, guess we shouldn’t tell you about the new housekeeping services & prime rib friday nights. ;)

haha, housekeeping would get me going, Prime rib not so much b/c delano wouldn’t be able to pull it off right. I went to plenty of “meat carver” nights to know that delano can’t cook meat unless it’s parent’s weekend.

the parents weekend food wasn’t all that good either…

it was better that what we normally get though… i think that’s the most depressing part of school… but whatever… in the ever wise words of CAPT Force, “It’s Free!”

JM you are such a sucker ;)

If 2009 got to take two PKTs a week they would have been recognized in October!!

Two PKTs a week? How bogus is that? They should get one shot a week like everbody else.

What’s next? Trophies for everyone like in 1st grade soccer so nobody gets their feelings hurt?

Pehaps the next rotation will fix things.

Sounds like these changes may be coming from above, but there is still hope for 2nd rotation. And I missed the part on 2 PKT’s a week, if that’s the case they must have really changed the style of how they’re given, because there is no way I would have wanted to go through those two nights a week when we had to do them.

the sunday night pkt’s are the same as they probably were when you were here. the second pkt we take on wednesdays, in our companies with our cto (although some companies don’t take the wednesday ones)

The push for recognition is coming from higher then the Midn. Officers. Our class president presented our idea for a recognition step for 2010, a decent project that would take some time and brain power, something I have yet to see from this grou. It was turned down and he was TOLD that our recognition step for them WILL be a fundraiser for kids with cancer. Great cause, but its not showing they want to be a part of the regiment, sounds like my high school years working with Student Council.

Also I was talking to my plebes this morning during their morning inspection. Apparently they don’t get ITd during Tattoo any more. Instead they get lectured about writing proper business essays. (I can only say that for my company, don’t know how the others work)

what company is that, cuz we still get IT’d whenever our cto feels it necessary, whether at tattoo, or at 0500 in the morning, or any other time

Heaven help the Class of 2012
