I think that some conservatives are realizing that today’s republican party has little connection with the ideals which made them “conservatives” and are being forced to address those contradictions and assess which politicians actually speak to their beliefs. The GOP has become a tired and stale vessel for advancing the ambitions of the Babbitts and Elmer Gantrys of the world and little else. What shining ideal does a conservative have to point to that aligns with anything the republicans have actually done in the past 30 years?
