High School Class of 2014

@franz: that sucks. People crack jokes about that in my school, since based on appearances alone, a large percent of our school population looks… unfriendly, and in the 20th century (lol) some kid got shot. The magnet school i go to is one of the ones where the school original does very poorly in all those HSA’s and the like, so they started the magnet program to for people who wanted to challenge themselves and apply; this increased the proficiency/stats for the school.

At least you can be proud that despite the environment you’re in, you’ve still gotten so far/and pass. :]

Ahhh I just got my AP score back, made my day :)

@itsraininghere This year our graduating class was a pretty good one. Our val. was accepted into Northeastern(thats where shes going in the fall) but waitlisted at Brown and Colombia. Our sal. was accepted at Harvard,Princton(attending this fall),RPI, and a couple of other schools I forgot. Our third was accepted and is going to Notre Dame this fall. Our fourth was accepted and is attending USC this fall. I’m not sure about the remainging top 10, but I know we have another RPI attende, and an NYU attendu. The previous year I know our val was accepted to Penn State(ivy). So I guess we have some achieving students, but the rest are attending Suny schools, or community colleges.

There is no such pressure of sort at my school except for the kids who really want to succeed, fourth quarter there was a mistake on my report card and my band teacher at given me a 67(although 3rd quarter I had a 99), and I’m considered 11th in my class at the moment with that mistake, once thats fixed I can only imagine how much my rank will go up. People just dont care in my grade, and its frustrating to have to held back my other students when I’m not in excellerated classes with other students of my caliber.

@evanb1996 I dont knw what the gpa of the lowest student is, but I wouldnt be surprised if there was student in my grade with one as low as that. I guess as @itsraininghere noted there might be a few select cases where students in the class of 2014 are set for a path of success throughout hs and college, but i feel in general our class is lacking the motivation of students prior and post us. Maybe its just me, idk.

@itsraininghere what ap’s did you take? Howd you do, I know at my school we’re not allowed to take ap’s as freshmen.

@starr8nn My school used to let freshmen take as many APs as they wanted but kids started overloading on them so now only APUSH is allowed (as a a freshman).
And I got a 5! I’m glad all the hard work paid off.
What’s your course load for this coming school year ? Or is it already somewhere on this thread?

@itsraininghere I already posted it, but I dont mind retyping it.
Wwhat about you?

@StudiousMaximus

My school doesn’t have USAMO either. I am working to get it sponsored as well

I was going to be class of 2014, but now since I’m studying abroad for a year [in Japan] my school is forcing me to graduate in 2015. They won’t transfer my credits from my other school while I’m abroad.
Oh well; spending a year abroad is a lot more important to me. I just don’t really want to be 19 and graduating with 18 year olds, though I suppose there isn’t much of a difference.

@evanh14 mine starts sep 7 and ends june 14-15ish (around that date, im not sure)

School here starts September 7th, too. Two months left of summer. Basically.

Last year, my school started around September 7th as well. However, the 2011-2012 school year now begins August 29th. :(

@starr8nn AP’s in science, math, English, and social studies. I don’t have any room for electives this year (I’m keeping it pretty general just in case someone from my school happens to be browsing CC).
Is anyone preparing to take the permit/drivers test? Or already passed? I failed my permit…

Psh, my school starts the 18th of August. It also starts 40 minutes earlier than the previous years. You guys got it lucky.

@itsraininghere: I start driver’s ed in four days. With this particular driving school, after you show up to the first class, they give you a paper saying you’re enrolled in driver’s ed. You take that paper and your ID to the DMV and they issue you a permit with no tests.

@tofugirl: Did you skip a grade? I’ll be 17 when I start college, but I’ll turn 18 when I go 2 months in (unless I do summer semesters).

@franz: My school went on lockdown because this girl was chasing these boys around the school with a knife. After the resource officer tackled her (he was about to shoot her with a 45), we found out that she was on mental meds and was released out of a psych ward a few months before she came to our school. After that, she never came back.

I start school August 8th because of the community college in my area. IDK why we are on the community college schedule when only the early college high school takes classes through them, when i go to the regular high school. I wont be able to take driver’s ed til March because my BD doesn’t want us taking it during marching band season and the basketball coach wants me to be statistician since the last one was horrible at math. I could have taken it in May, but I wanted to concentrate on my exams (I got 98, 98, 98, and 100).

@itsraininghere your 16?, dont u have to be at least 16 to take drivers ed or?..am i wrong
Smart, I kind wish i did that now. You can never be sure… >.< oh well, its a lesson to learn from.

In some states, you can start driver’s ed on your fifteenth birthday. Some are fifteen and a half. Others are sixteen.

I like big…

@evanb- Yeah, I skipped 7th grade. You?

@tofugirl: I didn’t skip any grades, even though I could’ve skipped 1st grade.
