High School Class of 2014

@mocheng same and basically me, until like April or May when all the fun starts again

Yeah, for me, homecoming week marks the start of October, a month in which there are no special weekends where we get a day off. Also in which I’ll be panicking because I’ll probably fail my upcoming tests.

After October, if I survive, then it’s November which is also super busy. College apps and NaNoWriMo, and school/starting to study for finals! After winter break though, it’ll be a lot better (I think). I’ll have finished all my materials for competitions, and just have to go to them. And then school will be easier.

I think May will be the best month.

^ Nope. APs. June obviously.

Yeah. I found out my Homecoming dance is the same day as my ACT. Oct. 26. Yay!

I’ve decided that even though I’m taking 7 AP classes, I will probably only take tests for the ones that my college will accept. No point in throwing $96 away for each tests. PLEASE YALE! Accept me early so I can know early which tests I’ll be taking.

Yale: Haha… We’ll see…

I still have no idea where I’m applying early.

I’m considering taking the SAT in November, just to see how it goes. I’m prepping for the ACT this month and finding practice tests are hard. The PDFs are nice but I need it in paper and I can’t print out all those sheets. My mom would kill me. I only used like one practice test in the SAT Blue Book so I might just focus on the SAT from now on. I’m pretty confident I can score at least a 30 or 31 on the ACT with maybe two more practice tests. So maybe focusing on the SAT might be beneficial.

The whole first half of senior year is going to be kind of rough. >.< I’m probably spending 10 hours a week planning homecoming until the end of September, and then I have to work on all my college apps and have the first one ready to go for that Nov. 1 deadline! Then the agonizing wait till mid-December… not to mention the general craziness of school and extra curriculars and the start of the IEA season.

Wow, you guys have the first day of school tomorrow? I’ve been in school for 3 weeks now. When do you get out of school?

Accepting that there’s a high probability I won’t get into Caltech or MIT got a lot easier when I found a school I have a good chance to get into, and meets my criteria (in my case URochester). I’d be thrilled to get into one of my top reaches, but now I know that if I don’t I have another option I’d really be happy with.

^ That’s I feel about Ohio State. I would love to get into my reaches, but if I end up going to Ohio State I will still be extremely happy!

Same. Actually, that’s why I have only 7 or 8 schools on my list. I know for a fact I’d be happy at any of em.

I’d be extremely happy at 9 out of 11 schools I’m applying to. I’d be happy but not ecstatic at the other 2.

My school lets out in May.

I always start around Sept 4-Sept 9 and end around June 15-20…

I’m happy because if I don’t get into my reaches/matches, I have UT Austin to go to, which is still a great school.

It’s actually been a good cover-up. Whenever people ask me where I’m going to college (which seems to be the REQUIRED QUESTION to ask whenever I mention I’m a senior), I just say that I’m looking at a lot of schools, but if all else fails, I’ll be in UT Austin next fall.

I actually regret telling people I want to go to Yale (I told some people junior year). Now I feel like they’re all waiting for me to get rejected. :(

I have a few reaches that I’m applying to just to get rejected, but I think my matches are going to be just as awesome (that’s why they’re even on my list). And if all else fails, my safety/ies will be okay.

Hopefully I don’t get rejected from UC Irvine, like my friend did for “being overqualified” even though her GPA/SAT combo was pretty close to mine, which is to say they suck. But UC Santa Cruz loves my school, and has accepted a lot of people with lower combos than me.

My district starts the school year in the middle of August and ends the last week of May.

When people ask me where I think I’m going for college, I just say “Well, I’m not applying to Stanford” and they’re so surprised that I can quickly leave the conversation. Because seriously, like 99.9% of my school expresses some wish to go to Stanford. And a lot of people do get accepted. Like 10% of the class of 2013 at my school is at Stanford right now.

Yes, why is it that everyone asks high school seniors where they’re going to college? Regardless of the fact that senior year just started?

So aggravating. Perhaps they don’t realize that the earliest decisions don’t come out until December, and that most students don’t even apply until January.

Plus I risk sounding awfully pretentious if I tell them where I want to go at this point in time, especially if I don’t get accepted later on.

@quidditchcat Sorry, this is a page back, but I love NaNo.

I feel the same way. People always ask me “Where are you going for college” not “Where are you APPLYING for college”. I’m just like “I don’t know where I’m going” and now I look completely irresponsible to them.

But I guess I should be happy some people even assume, I’m going to college. Being a black male, not many would think I am.

Haha… @TinnyT I know what you mean. I think I surprise people in my predominately white neighborhood when they find out that I am actually somewhat intellegent. #blackfemale

I go to a predominately Caucasian high school, so a lot of people are surprised that I have a chance to go to college lol. I guess it’s a shock to some people that a black men and women go to college.
