High School Class of 2015

I’m taking Classical civisations (ancient history and literature) and Textiles (sewing and stuff) as electives this year and last year. Classics is great, but I wish I hadn’t done textiles. It’s really hard, a huge amount of work and unless I plan on making my own clothes, completely pointless.

I’m probably going to take photography my senior year because we need an art credit and I’m fairly good at taking photos, I guess.

I think taking some electives you’re interested in shows that you aren’t a robot that takes every AP possible and only studies those to seem impressive. I think you seem more realistic and human-like if you take focused elective classes you enjoy. :)

GROAN Got my progress report today…A
s in Science & English, and B in math…not worried…it
s a 93.2, which is easy enough to pull up, and I
ve been doing minimal studying, so no biggie. 90.3 in AP W. History and I
m really mad at myself…all my friends who didn
t do as well for AP are telling me that
s great…and I know it is, and I still have almost a whole month to pull it up. But there are other people who have A
s…one kid has a 101.7! But for me, no matter how tough the class is, if it
s a history class, there
s NO excuse for not getting an A, even on a progress report. It
s my own fault. I shoudl
ve studied a little more and worked a little harder and it would
ve made a world of difference. Lesson learned…but we also got these mini-essays back the other day for AP and you could get a 1-4, and our teacher was VERY lenient when grading them…I got a 2 and two 3
s…and some got all 4
s and most got at least one 4. Writing
s my strength so I
m mad about that too.

Well now I`m just feeling sorry for myself…sorry to infiltrate this thread with my pity party  Just needed to vent.

Hey guys! So I’m presenting a webinar on Tuesday, September 25, and I would love for you guys to attend @ 4 PM EST. It’s entitled “Passion + Social Media = Limitless Possibilities”, and it is basically a leadership-oriented webinar, so I assume it would be of great interest to you guys. It’s being sponsored by Greening Forward, the non-profit I work for, so please, please, please attend if you can! I’ll give you the full details if you want.

Tuesday…Ah, I wish I could, but I have to stay after school for SCAEL team until 4:30. Sorry! :(

Since everyone’s posting their prospective schedules… Here I go!

This year:
0 Period Total Fitness [PE Credit - 7:00-8:00 before school]
AP World History
Honors Biology
Algebra 2
AP Language and Composition
Chinese 1
Latin 1

Junior year:
AP US History
AP Chem [Taking regular Chem over summer]
Pre-Calculus
Honors British Literature [Weighted like an AP over here]
Latin 2 [Maybe 3 if I do Latin 2 over the summer]
AP Statistics [I am so excited. I just looked @ the course catalog and we can take AP Stats anytime after Algebra 2. YES!]

Senior year:
AP Macro Econ + AP Micro Econ [Each a semester long]
OR
AP Macro Econ + AP Gov and Poli [Each a semester long]
^^ Undecided on those.
AP Physics
AP Calculus
AP Literature and Composition
Honors Latin 3 [Unless I’ve taken Latin 2 over the summer, in which case I’ll be in AP Latin Vergil]
AP Biology

Extracurriculars, hopefully:
JCL [Junior Classical League] AKA Nationally Recognized Latin Club
MUN/Mock Trial [Both HUGE time commitments, sadly] if I get in [Audition-only]
Certamen [Basically Latin jeopardy, goes to State Convention to compete]
Some sort of Science-y thing - I need to talk to my Bio teacher about that
Key Club because I’m getting bored of volunteering at the library

‘B in math… 93.2’

But a 93.2 is an A?
Your scale may be different than ours… but I don’t see how it would be different. Scratches head.

Everything’s alright as of now, I’m still learning to budget my time.
This year’s course load is so much scarier than last year’s course load was.

HobbitTon - Dang it, 4 PM EST = 1 PM here.
I’ll be at school.

I’m a sophomore and these are my classes this year:
English 2 Honors
Ceramics 1
AP Human Geography
PE (I HATE sports. I was in Girls’ Tennis for a day and I quit.)
Spanish 2 (There is no spanish 2 honors at my school)
Geometry

I had to retake Algebra -__- I want to take Alg2/Trig Honors this summer, but I don’t know if my school allows that. I’m so weak in math. :(

Also, I really want to self-study for AP Psychology! Do you think I can do it?

My ECs are really weak. I just do some community service hours at this temple next to my house. I’m not in any sports. I’m kind of worried now. I want to join ASB, but I feel like I don’t fit in with them. =/

My Classes this year are:
Theatre Arts
Career & Financial Management
French Honors
Chemistry Honors
P.E.
Global History Honors
Algebra II & Trigonometry Honors
English Honors
Yeah, no AP classes…There are 3 AP’s offered to sophomores at my school:
Biology-could’ve taken, chose not to because upper classmen reccomended Chem first
Art History-didn’t know my school had it until the year started, lol
World History-is a 2yr 9-10th grade course, I could’ve taken it but didn’t because I was just starting school in a new district and didn’t need anymore confusion.

My prospective Junior year schedule will have:
AP Biology (2 periods everyday)
AP US History
AP English Language
College Pre-Calculus
Physics Honors
French Honors
PE…or maybe advanced Pool. Idk

AP World is a two year course at your school? Year long here…

Next years schedule looks great! 3 AP classes to begin with might be kind of rough, though.

Has anyone taken AP Statistics here? If so, what is your response on the subject?

Isn`t Sophomore a little young to take AP Stats? I only know of juniors and mostly seniors taking it…

AP Stats can be taken after Algebra 2, or concurrently with precalc at the earliest. And from what I read, a lot of people on this site (including myself) take precalc or above their sophomore year.

Well, I forgot there for a minute that my school is mainly rednecks :D…I know a few kids who are taking Pre-Calc this year, none for AP Stats though. Jeez…lucky math people…I`d give anything to have math come so easily to me.

I’m taking AP stats and pre cal next semester! Fun stuff, and math is my worst subject…

Ha. Well, it
s not that I disslike math, it
s just that I usually have teachers that don`t teach it well, but still, no excuse.

Yep, can be taken concurrently (in fact, is encouraged to be taken concurrently) with Pre-Calculus

Taking it next year :)

I
m taking Pre-Calc next year, but I don
t know if I could handle AP Stats! :)

Yeah it might be a bit tough :/

The thing is, there’s nothing else I can choose unless I want to double up on science…
Already going to take an AP science next year so idk if I want to do another one…
Stats sounds interesting from what I’ve read :stuck_out_tongue: so I dunno.

What would you choose, if you had to pick from these choices:

A) AP Biology and AP Chem
B) AP Physics and AP Biology
C) AP Biology and AP Stats
D) AP Physics and AP Stats [Hardest option, IMO]
