^Why are you taking both AP Calc classes in the same year? You can’t take both the exams in the same year.
My advice-take BC. You will have plenty of time to get caught up on the A stuff over the summer if needed.

i thought bc covers all of the stuff of ab. Its a double block class in my school.

^At my school it doesn’t. :/

No AP’s at my school
…
BUT, we’re allowed to take the tests so my plan IS:
AP Chem (this year, already registered)
APUSH, AP French, AP Stat, AP Physics (Next year)
AP Calc BC, AP Econ, AP Gov, AP Bio (Senior)
I know its kind of unrealistic and i WILL be shaving it down, haha im not one to pretend that i can do all of these magically, i know it will take an incredible amount of work, work that im hoping i will be able to commit to
by the way, HELLO everybody! I’ve been off CC for a good 4 months now, i needed the “vacation” but its good to be back :p

Next year I’m taking AP Lang, APUSH, AP Bio, and AP Calc BC.

Senior year I’m going to take AP Physics B, AP Stats, AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Macro, Multivariable Calculus (weighted as an AP), and possibly AP Spanish.

@crazyfrog: OK, I was really scared for a moment there.
Actually, your senior year sounds more manageable than your junior year. Only AP Stats is considered an “easier” AP in your junior year list, and the class itself actually is not easy. A ton of the people taking that class expecting an easy way out end up failing/ getting a D. Some of the smartest kids I know have gotten their first B’s in that class.
Then again it could just be our teacher…

@josh: Ouch. Both of your prospective schedules sound torturous. I’m sorry.
Lang and APUSH are soooo much about writing, and Bio still has tons of memorization in it (just not as much as before). Calc BC isn’t bad, though.
And then your senior year just sounds crazy. That’s a dang ton of AP’s. Not to mention the higher-level math class.

APUSH in my school is actually one of the easier AP’s. Also, AP Gov and AP Macro are both easy half year courses in my high school. And I probably won’t take AP Spanish because the Spanish teachers in my high school are pretty bad.

Ok, then that does sound more manageable
At my school APUSH is notorious for being one of the hardest…that and AP Euro…and it doesn’t help that the teachers for both of them are really extremely tough.
Another great reason to do IB at my school!! :p

^ Same. APUSH is notoriously the hardest along with Literature. BC is also considered hard along with Chemistry. Only 5 people got As in APUSH this year and last year (3 classes).

^Ouch, that sucks.
At my school, AP Physics C (you take BOTH of the tests, so you spend a semester on each one) is known to be one of those classes: you either get it, or ya don’t. Sucks to suck.
As for IB classes, well. IB HL Chem and HL History are infamous, but History more so because of the sheer volume of writing and reading and other crazy annoying workload stuff you have to do. SL History is even harder than some of the HL classes. And then in HL Chem there was this one unit that no one understood…NO ONE. Imagine how they all did on their unit test.
Those are the only ones that stick out to me right now…I’m sure I’ll remember some more later. XD

Oh yeah forgot about AP Physics. I heard the class isn’t as hard as AP Chemistry at my school. I heard the easiest AP is AP English Language at my school from the juniors.

The English ones are weird at my school. We seem to have talents at both ends of the spectrum and everything in between. XD
Dang then your AP Chem curriculum must be uber uber hard.
…Oh well duh, I just saw that you’re in California. :p

^ Nah. It’s because we have trouble understanding concepts. All my teacher does is use powerpoints with examples directly from the book and never explains it. Almost like a self-study class. There’s only fourteen people in my class. 26 at the beginning of the year

Hardest classes in my school are AP Chem, AP Physics, and all of the AP Foreign Languages. AP Euro, AP Calc, AP Art History, and AP Music Theory are all close 2nd because you either get it or you don’t.

^I heard AP Music Theory can be a pain.

@ElvenRanger that’s just how my school does it. Either you just take AB or you take AB+BC. We have block scheduling, so AB would be first semester and BC would be second semester. Then you just take the BC exam.

We don’t do AP (obviously) over here, but by the end of my time in school I should have the equivalent of:
AP English Language (not my decision…)
AP Physics B and C
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus AB, BC and beyond
AP Biology (maybe equivalent, I’m not sure)
AP Computer Science (again, may not actually be equivalent)

Additionally, having looked at the specifications for Comparative Government and Human Geography, I think they might fit in with my classes this year, as they appear to be fairly easy.

On the topic of these kind of classes, I just found out you can get the old Analysis units as standalone as well as the standard AH Applied Maths qualification. I’d sort of like to convince my school to let me do these (I plan on doing pure maths and mechanics), but I’ve a feeling they’ll ask me why I’m not doing the standalone stats units that they actually offer. I can’t exactly say I find statistics ridiculously boring and never want to look at anything relating to it again, as the head of maths is the stats teacher.

Sigh. I’ll probably teach myself it, but it would be nice to get the recognition.

@ElvenRanger Our history curriculum is pretty similar to IB. So much writing. So much work. …I’m not taking it.

I love history :D

Next year, I’m taking the equivalent to AP for:
World History
Chemistry (I didn’t want to do it, but the school doesn’t offer Class Civ or English Language)
Biology
Maths, but I think this goes beyond the APs offered

I was considering self studying an AP or two extra, in similar subjects, but the tests are close to my exams and I don’t think I could take the strain of that on top. I’ll need to do SATs in the fall as well, meaning I think I’m going to take my first one this year!

Next year:

APUSH
AP French V
AP Earth
AP English
AP Calc BC
AP World
Student council
Ceramics II

I’m gonna try and do a quick prep over the summer, just to read over what I’m going to learn before I jump into all those APs. French, ap us history, and English are the only classes I think I’ll think are difficult

Hey guys. Just started on this site. OH MY GOD IT"S SO ADDICTING. Everyone on here is so smart—hopefully this is just an elite group. Anyway…we have to start thinking about classes to take next year and i was wondering if you could all kind of help. This is what my plan has been
JUNIOR:
AP Lang
AP Calc BC
AP Physics
APUSH
AP Chem or AP Bio…this is the part I’m having trouble on. This year is going to be pretty rigorous so I was hoping that this class would be slightly easier. Which one would you recommend because the other one I would most likely take senior.
SENIOR
AP Lit
AP Euro
AP Macro/Micro Econ
AP Spanish Lang
Multivariable Calc
AP Chem or Bio
Or if you have any other recommendations for either year that would be nice to. Okay thanks people :)
