High School Class of 2015

@DAIMYO I use home phone but when there’s a cell option too I do both

…bump.

Just sent in my test sores… now I’m committed to writing all these essays…

Also, @minhoforever, is your username a SHINee reference??

Well, I just finished my first draft of my Common App essay. Hooray for progress.

I finished a draft of my Common App essay yesterday. I think I’ve improved it, but something still seems off in the last paragraph.
I just added Dartmouth to my list, although I’m scared to death about asking for a peer recommendation!

You gotta get a friend to write you a recommendation? That’s a little much, even for college admissions.

I know. What senior even has time to work on anyone else’s application?

@elf4EVA‌ haha no it’s not. Its a reference to a South Korean actor named lee min ho.

@minhoforever ahhh, gotcha - I’ve heard of him, but I’m not too into Kdramas

@geros9 Could you ask a friend to do the peer review? I’ve crossed Dartmouth off (not totally in love with them) but I’d planned on asking either a close friend or my sister to write one for me.

@HeyLei I know exactly which friend I’m going to ask, but I still think it’s going to be really awkward.

@geros9 That’s great! About the friend that is. Hopefully it’ll be totally un-awkward. Good luck with the rest of your applications!!

I don’t get why some schools go that far, asking for a peer recommendation…

Ugh, the peer rec… all of my friends are in/graduated from college, and I’m on my gap year working at my school, so the people I associate with most are my former teachers. Hopefully I’ll get accepted to my ED school so I won’t have to worry about this, but…

hey all I’m a fellow 2015er I know i’m joining a tad late but hi:) and as far as common app goes I have a couple drafts of the story prompt done. Nice to meet y’all

haha I’ve offered to write one for my friend if he decides to apply to Dartmouth.
I think the peer rec is kind of a cool idea because the friend/sibling/etc. is closer to you & he/she gets to show Admissions a side of you that your teachers might not have covered. Unless the person writes bad things, of course…

@medoh96 Welcome! Eesh, I feel like I’ve been rewriting my story prompt for forever XD I can hardly wait for it to be completely finished. @collegefountain I agree! I thought it was pretty neat that Dartmouth does this.

I think it’s over the top to let some of the decision rest on the writing of a teenage non-applicant who the decision wouldn’t even affect…

My Common App essay is done and just needs to be proofread. Times like this I envy people who have started school already and/or starting school in the next week or so. I have to wait until September and then rush to ask for LOR. And teachers don’t like being bothered in the first few weeks so I don’t even know how I’ll be able to get these LORs.

And the QuestBridge Match thing went out today and now I’m feeling overwhelmed. Oh well.

My Common App essay should be done ASAP, and I haven’t even started it. My novel for NaNoWriMo must be finished by the end of November, and I’ve been planning since April.
