PSATs first man

Well…one could take the October SAT, which is before the PSAT testing date…

@ThatPurpleKoala: I’ve actually never fully realized that you could have classes with siblings since I’m an only child. That would be interesting though to see someone at home and at school. Are you and your older brother really similar?

@Foodlover001 The reason I had class with my brother in the first place is that I ended up a year ahead in the science department (most freshmen at my school either elect to skip science or take “integrated science” --don’t ask me what that means-- while I took biology) while he wasn’t, and he’s only a year ahead of me in school. Personally, I don’t think we’re that similar; his favorite subjects are math and history and he plans on being a civil engineer while English is my favorite subject and I want to study some sort of communications/media.

On the subject of siblings sharing classes, there’s a set of twins in my AP chem class…it’s pretty funny actually, as the girl thinks she’s smarter than her brother (not the case at all; if rumors are to be believed, his SAT scores from sophomore year match the average Ivy League applicant and hers…not quite as high, but still decent). We also have the class clown, a couple who eyeball-cuddle during class :-& , a set of cousins, and a few other people I don’t really talk to as we’re in different grades/social circles/both.

Yeah, we have two sets if triplets in my school which is really cool. I don’t know if they usually have classes together though.

Fifth-day update:
-AP CHEM IS SO HARD WHY IS THERE NO WARNING LABEL ON IT?
-That being said, it’s still fun.
-Brit Lit (Honors English 11) is actually not as hard as people at my school make it sound.
-My friends are starting an anime club at my school that I’ll probably end up being coerced into joining.
-But I know almost nothing about anime…
-There’s an improv comedy troupe forming at my school that I want to join
-Rehearsals are at the same time as marching band warmups before football games, though.
-AP Psych has done practically nothing so far and it’s glorious.
-Precalc is confusing but necessary to continue AP Chem
-I just want to curl up in a ball and sleep for approximately 247 years.

@ThatPurpleKoala praying for you on AP Chem. Lol that class will get difficult as the test has become more conceptual. But tough it out!

@PoisonIvy20 Lol thanks and of course I’ll tough it out; I didn’t do all that summer work for nothing.

Hey guys. I’m new to this thread (and the boards too)

So…junior year…I start Monday!

Schedule:
AP Spanish
AP Statistics
AP Macro
AP Lit
AP World History
Health
Physics
Graduation Portfolio (some sort of required class)

and I’m going to self-study AP Comp!

I’m scared of Stats and Lit, haha. And I need to start taking the PSAT seriously and practicing (trying to motivate myself with the idea of free Fordham for semifinalists/finalists).

@evan241 - Good luck! I took AP Stat last year and the exam was really easy. You should be fine. :)

I guess we’re posting schedules now Here’s mine:

AP Art History
Honors Physics
AP Stats
AP US History
AP English Lang
AP Calc AB
AP Chinese

My only fear is English Lang… i heard it was hard

@sunsh0wers - Thanks! I’ve heard that it’s not too difficult, but I’m not really a ‘math person’, so I’m not sure how easy/difficult it will be for me…I’m just going into it with as much enthusiasm and as few expectations as possible!

2016ers - I’m sure this topic has been covered a lot, but what kinds of colleges are you guys considering?? Do you already have a list of schools that you’re interested in?

@evan241 UT Austin all the way

@afroninja26 Pokemon Worlds is a blast though. I couldn’t make it this year but last year in Vancouver was the best. Did you participate? (If so, since this is class of 2016 i’d assume first year master, always fun).

@evan241
Caltech /shot
God I love that color though.
Orange is <3

I know I won’t make it tho
so atm I’m thinking the local state uni.

Schedule tho
don’t really remember the order 100 but from funnest to suicidal:
(not completely sure about the order though because it’s only been like 2 days
and the first day we pretty much played the name game and crap)

by class i mean like the ppl in it

AP Gov? Maybe? Depends
AP Physics Mech
AP Stats (was v fun until we got assigned seating. should be fun again second term on tho)

AP BC

French 1 lololol

English 11 I can just tell this class will suck. teacher’s nice and everything but the class is OTL
AP Chem. might drop out of this one. I was never too fond of the class subject to begin with, and I’m not too fond of the class itself either.

First four actually look like they might be pretty fun.
Fr I know will be pretty bad (teacher’s v unstable) but I like the class so. Class material shouldn’t be too bad either.
The next two tho are… uhhh. not completely sure why i’m taking them?

How many APs will you guys have completed when we start applying to colleges?

This year I decided to take 3 APs instead of 4 (2 are required)…well because I don’t want to suffer so much. I feel like I’ll get penalized for that in the long run when colleges like HYPSM see if I took the “most rigorous” course possible. Its been worrying me for a while now. :-S

@PoisonIvy20 I am trying to take as many as possible (7) because I really want to get AP National Scholar by junior year. However, I feel like I might only end up taking 4 or 5 because I might be stretched out too thin.
In my schedule, I have a study hall every other day. Should I fill this up with an elective because it isn’t the “most rigorous” course possible? However, I don’t even have a lunch period, so would the full schedule work in my favor?

@PoisonIvy20 I’ll have 9.

@alzhao when are you going to eat lunch then?

@PoisonIvy20 I’ll have 9 as well, but i’ll have 17-18 at graduation

@ErenYeager During contemporary strings/Jazz band which alternate each day. I’ll have like 10 minutes at the start of both classes.
Also, how do you plan on handling 9 AP’s? Which ones and how many of them are self-studies?
