Lol I just looked at your “chance” thread, and looks like you have lots of volunteering hours, sports, and you’re in the Key club and Red cross. I’d consider those to be ECs, unless my definition of ECs is different than yours ¯_(ツ)_/¯

@SippingCoffee I’m part of those clubs but I don’t do anything in them lol. I did say I play sports outside of school just now but it’s not much of an EC.

AP Lang
AP Gov
AP Calc AB (highest my school offers; already know AB and BC; taking BC exam)
Accounting I (stupid credit req.)
Chemistry I (yay no AP Chem; I’m probably self studying AP Chem and taking the exam though; dunno yet)

Next semester Accounting I and Chem I switch to AP Stats and probably econ or something.

What’s the difference between AP Lit and AP Language? They seem pretty much the same thing to me, but I’m taking AP Lit hating it so far (reading Pride and Prejudice and I can’t seem to stay awake while reading)

@Woandering I used to think that self-studying AP’s would look good on the college app, especially something like AP National Scholar, which I aim to get by the end of junior year (BTW does that really look that much better than AP National Scholar in senior year?). But after seeing your thread I guess I’m more in it to get the college credit and learn some stuff in areas that really interest me.

@alzhao Yeah, I’m planning to self study AP World History next year instead of this year, for college credit. I’m going ot self study AP Environmental Science or Psychology, though, for AP National Scholar, and for UK college admissions.

AP Lit is harder than AP Lang. Lang is less analyzing books and more writing and grammar. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.

This semester I have:
AP Psychology
AP Computer Science A
AP APUSH/AP English (A-B schedule)
Marching Band (I would take honors, but that would only put on more stress)

Kinda regretting taking APUSH, but it came with AP English so oh well.

Lang is writing and analyze grammatical purposes of texts, Lit is reading for understanding? idk. It’s been a month in Lang and we’ve only read speeches.

I took the lang exam. It’s not so much about grammar as it is about rhetorical analysis. Basically, geared towards writing and reading from the perspective of an expository writer. Significantly easier than lit and also way easier to self-study for (or not study for, it really just tests on English fundamentals).

I’m mad at my AP Human Geo teacher. We were learning about the geological time periods/eras, and we had a quiz on the eras. So on the notes that he gave us he said that the Paleozoic era was the longest, and I put that on the quiz. Well, it was counted wrong because the Pre-Cambrian era was actually the longest…um…what?

I’m so done with life rn because the PSAT is in like 2 weeks and I totally forgot so I didn’t even prep or anything. Guess I can kiss my chance of getting Scholar Merit Award goodbye. But good thing it’s free at my school

@thealvintran Pretty sure the cost is somehow included in the tuition, either via direct payment or taxes. But anyway, just work on your weak points for two weeks. You’ll do fine.

I go to a public school, and the school district pays for PSAT tests for sophomores and juniors, and pays for SAT for seniors on 10/15. I’m really bad at critical reading & grammar.

Oh gosh I just went back and looked at my PSAT score from last year, and I got a 167. lol but i literally did not study at all, took it fresh. So hopefully I’ll do better this time
