High school class of 2016

@ThatPurpleKoala‌

About Stat, I was just saying AP Stat is a completely safe option as opposed to Stat H. Also, if you self study, you should be able to take the AP test at a nearby high school, too, although you should check that before the extra studying.

@Woandering‌

At my school, AP Stats is the exact same course as H Stats (because administrators have sound logic, obviously rolls eyes because there is no eye-rolling smiley). So technically, AP Stats doesn’t exist; however, kids in H Stats are strongly encouraged to take the AP exam. Taking AP Physics 1’s exam would mean missing the class time for the exam PLUS travel time (30+ minutes to the nearest school that offers it, plus however long back to school if it’s a morning exam). Not worth it imo.

@ThatPurpleKoala‌
Oh okay. I thought your earlier post said that you went for Stat H instead of AP Stat because you have a lower grade in math.

And with AP Physics, your choice, but it’s a good way to get college credit (if colleges accept it).

@Woandering‌ econ/business is an easy 90+, while the sciences are difficult to get 90s in, and then bio is the easiest science (and you don’t need to go that far into math), etc…

@crimes‌
Oh are there multiple business classes at your school? I thought you were referring to AP classes that help bring up GPA.

There’s IB Econ or IB Business, and yeah we have like 10/11/12/uni or college level (I’m not totally sure) business courses, too. Those are all easy 90s but aren’t ~advanced~. We don’t really weigh courses because our school doesn’t offer AP, but IB has its own grading curve that boosts your grade.

I meant that for IB Econ/Business, it’s not harder than the normal version, while IB Physics is a lot harder than grade 12 physics but both pretty much have the same inflation curve.

@‌glasshours
Probably 5 or 6 APs
For sure taking AP Calc BC, AP Gov&Econ, AP comp sci, Business Stats

Now I have t decide between physics 2/physics C and AP lit/cp lit

Got an honorable mention for my poetry in Scholastics. First year I submitted.
Next year I will probably take AP Lit and AP Bio.

I hate the gym requirement! I have to take it all four years, and it eats up a big chunk of time. I’m a three season varsity athlete; there should be some sort of exemption.
Also: do colleges factor in non-core classes when calculating your GPA? I am required to take four years of theology, and I don’t have a weight in that class. Even though almost everyone has a 100 in it, it brings down my grade because all my other classes are weighted.

@emtfxc‌

Colleges don’t care about weighted grades, and I’m pretty sure they don’t care about theology classes either.

1 more week until the end of semester for me. Still got all As so far, but half of them are on the edge, so the last tests are getting really stressful.

How is starting second semester for those of you who have started?

(P.S. Anyone ever feel pissed at some of the users on CC who start blustering about nonsense when they confront you about an issue and clearly lose the argument? This pretty much applies to real life, too)

Eh, I don’t argue with people on the internet because it’s just not worth it- you don’t know them, won’t know them, etc :slight_smile: I still have exams, so I’m in the same boat as you (I feel like I’m slipping and there’s nothing I can do). Can’t wait for a fresh start, though.

On CC the only thing that annoys me a lot are the 5-10th graders who worry about how to “maximize their chances for Harvard” if they’re getting a B+ in gym.

@crimes‌

I love debates, so I guess I just get attracted to them. Of course, by debates, I mean I love professional debates. Not the guy who starts insulting everyone because he feels cornered.

Funnily enough, the 5-10th graders don’t annoy me too much. While some of their questions are definitely naive, being ambitious is fine to me. If they spend too much time on CC seeking the “secret to admissions,” I won’t be affected. (Ironically, the same reasoning you used for arguing with people on the internet.)

Anyways, good luck to you for your exams. I’m a little worried on that fresh start, just in case I can’t do as well as 1st semester. Material is (obviously) getting harder, and my grades have slipped a little.

@Woandering‌ Second semester is okay so far. I’ve gotten pretty good grades on everything except not as high of grades as I wanted on my first few AP Stats quizzes and first test… That was the one class I had a 100+ in all last semester, and now I’m starting off with a low A… Woohoo! I made my first perfect score on my AP Chemistry test today though. Normally I make Bs on those tests. I’m ecstatic.

@PhilipL‌
Congrats on the chem. stat should be fine if u did so well first semester.

What do you guys want to major in?

I am considering a double major in biology and physics or a chemical engineering degree or electrical engineering degree. However, because I’m intending to be pre-med, I’ll just double major in biology and physics, to avoid the low GPA engineering is often associated with.

I’m going to major in journalism initially, and switch to English if that doesn’t work out. I might pick up a minor or second major in psychology or chemistry along the way.

Also, 500th post :-bd
…I really need to get a life.

@ThatPurpleKoala‌
Umm…

What’s Gucci guys. I don’t know if you guys were wondering or even if you care but it’s afroninja26 here. Haven’t been here in a while because I wasn’t able to log on. Whatever here I am
