We had to make a political cartoon for our APUSH class. So, I drew one all about consumerism and thought it was pretty good, solid B at worst. Well, I got a 50 on it because it did not include a pun. That stupid artsy project almost kept me from getting an A in the class.
Got a 0/21 on a chemistry lab last year, because I took it out of the bin to make a correction, but then I forgot to put it back in, and the teacher wouldn’t accept it…took my 3rd quarter grade down 4% (luckily, still pulled out an A in that class)
I got a 55% on a Macroecon test last year (before corrections), 65% on a AP Gov test, 56% on a calc test (before corrections) and a bunch of Fs & Ds on APUSH tests (luckily, there’s a big curve )
Hello! A bit new here! Well, not quite. But, hi! Usually, when I fail something, I just say I was emotionally compromised. Got a 60 on a bio test and other failures throughout life. It’s pretty awkward when people expect you to do well and you just sheepishly fail. XD
I know what you mean. I’ve made it a rule to never discuss my grades with casual acquaintances so when i unceremoniously fail something, no one is suspicious that I won’t talk about my score. Or I brag about my complete failure and commiserate with others!
I got a 75 (76 is passing) on a RETAKE of an AP chem quiz. First quiz of the year and I got a 50% on my first try. Let’s just say I was a bit scared for how the year was going to go… But luckily AP chem is much better and my favorite class now lol
I think I remember someone bringing this up in this thread recently (although, I’m not sure), but has anyone considered applying to SIMR for this summer?
Applying for these summer programs is so tiring. I feel like all this time spent on essays and the like isn’t going to amount to anything when I’m faced with rejection letters (not trying to be pessimistic).
@neoking Yes, the program does not offer housing. I live in the Bay Area, which is why I am considering applying to the program. Also, the institutes it offers are really specific, which I like.
I feel like my school is different from all of yours. We have serious grade inflation so everyone in the top 25 in class rank has a 4.9+ weighted GPA. Many of them take AP classes online in secret to increase their class rank. They also take summer college classes at universities without telling anyone, and lots are starting to dual enroll after school. The annoying thing is, they all think it’ll get them into HYPSM, but honestly no one in my class has what it takes (I really don’t think I do, and I’ve done the research). No one from my school has gotten into an Ivy in at least four years (no one can remember farther back). The people I’m in competition with are starting to get the idea about officer positions and are now cutthroat about those as well. Honestly I can’t wait until I get out of high school and into a college where people aren’t like this.
Maybe I should also take this to the rant thread before I type another paragraph lol
As for colleges, I’ve been looking at the tri-college consortium and Upenn and I especially like Haverford and Swarthmore. I also like Harvard and Princeton, but really, who doesn’t?
@coffeeaddicted woah and I thought I had it bad…that’s honestly awful. In my school literally everyone cheats…and not just here and there but on entire assignments and it’s so frustrating because you can work your butt off while the individual next to you does little to nothing and still gets a better grade than you! So at this point I dont even bother about my GPA and rank anymore…instead I’m just going to focus on ECs and standardized tests which will hopefully set me apart from my peers. Good thing these suckers can cheat on the SAT or any other standardized test
Dream: any Ivy League :(( lol that prestige follows you everywhere
Semi- Reach: Rice University (all the other schools in Texas seem within my reach :P)
Safety: TA&M, Baylor, UT etc.
