High School Class of 2018

@Tobster18 I think seminar and capstone,I think, are classes focused on writing and research so like journalism stuff. Dont quote me on that tho

@kassh4 Yeah thats what I thought, I also heard colleges are very intrigued by students who take it since it’s so new, but then I also hear colleges don’t take it as a credit for the same reason

@Tobster18 Yeah ive heard that colleges dont really give you credit but ive also heard that seminar and capstone are very time consuming

@kassh4 Oh well, thanks for the help. I hope it’s not too overwhelming.

@kassh4 I am currently first in my class, but I will probably be passed this coming semester. I can only keep my position if the person at #4 gets at least one B this semester.

@TP2000 How many people are in your grade?

Idk why but i always think that @Tobster18 and @TP2000 is one person.

@kassh4 There are around 400 people, but there are only 353 “spots” because there are many people who tie on the lower levels. My school is not very competitive, but the top five spots are all very close together GPA rank point wise.

me personally I plan on applying to UC’s/Cal states and business schools neither of which consider class rank so i luckily don’t have to obsess over what people are doing and make sure im on par

So I just finished 115 Plane Geometry problems from my prep work and only got 67 of 115 problems correct. I believe it was because I didn’t know a bunch of the formulas. Does anyone know of a Quizlet or something to help memorize all of the ACT formulas?

would you guys rather go to a small school where you are the smartest but not a lot of AP classes and the teaching isn’t that good or to a competitive school where lots of APs and good teachers and you will be prepared for college but your GPA and rank wouldn’t be as good.

@kassh4 Lol, you had the 7,000th post!

@kassh4 In my opinion, the latter sounds a lot better than the former. I want a good education and I want to be challenged. If my GPA and rank at my school aren’t good enough, I’ll be fine with going to a lesser-ranked college. The former basically doesn’t allow to challenge yourself. You may have a higher chance of getting into your drea

I dont know what they are doing because my class rank has changed over the summer without any new grades. I’ve gone from 6/475ish to 2/475ish

My school does not rank.

@kassh4 LOL, I forgot to finish! What I was going to say was that “You may have a higher chance of getting into your dream school, you might not be prepared for it!”

So, for anyone that doesn’t know, the ACT is changing!

According to Jed Applerouth on ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ blog:

I’ve just re-realized this and have put the ACT 2017 prep book on hold at my library. Should I really be worried about changes? I can just learn the more advanced math topics, which I’m pretty sure will likely be advanced Trigonometry and that I’ll probably learn next year in math class, but the speedier science section might be difficult.

@ak2018 DEAD why are they like this

@awesomepolyglot I know right? It’s bad enough we all have to get used to a new SAT/PSAT test, but the ACT too? I think they’re honestly just trying to compete with the College Board, which is honestly really stupid. The ACT company must’ve been like: “Wait, College Board rolled out a new version of the SAT/PSAT? We should definitely do the same. They are our competitors and it’s only in the name of competition. We’re not hurting anyone!” Well they definitely are. Especially last year’s junior who got hit first with the new SAT. Some of them had studied one or two years in advance, only to be told almost everything is changing. Either way, this hurts ACT/SAT test takers the most. I honestly think these “changes” should be publicly announced at least two years in advanced in order to give students a heads up!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I think I’m just going to stick with the SAT… Will colleges be expecting the new ACT for the class of 2018?
