High School Class of 2018

@ak2018 I have never heard of a high school having a hall monitor. I think the only time ive heard of one is on Suite Life on Deck. Someone let me know if your school has one very curious

@kassh4 it’s mostly just a preference thing, but I will quickly fail math if I have it at 7 in the morning :))

@ak2018 What does your brother think about the school? That’s what is most important, after all.

@nyuhopeful44 I’m kinda the opposite. I usually have better focus during the morning, since I haven’t given up on the day yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Tomorrow I get my schedule… I wish I could see it right now.

rip my first 2 morning classes are ap chem and ap calc ab

I feel like people that have classes in the afternoon get an unfair advantage because on test/quiz day they know exactly what is on the test.

@kassh4 Our school’s definitely don’t have hall monitors!

Also, I would say having a test in the afternoon is only good when you know someone who has that class in the morning. They don’t know exactly what’s on it, but they know what to expect. It definitely helped me to expect on my Chemistry or Algebra 2 test.

@apple1893 I’ll just go over my favorite memories from last year. Freshman year was “complicated”.

10th Grade:

Computer Math:

  • Learning how to code in Visual Basic (which was actually pretty basic :)) )
  • Making senior friends who I honestly still miss and chat with from time to time.
  • Abusing the fact that I had a computer in front of me. Sometimes, whenever my teacher wasn’t looking, as my computer was faced away from him, I would be on Facebook or CC. :))

Pre-AP English 10:

  • Reading Fahrenheit 451 and Frankenstein!
  • Having philosophical debates and discussions in class.
  • All the time we spent laughing in class.
  • When half of the girls in our class whispered “Happy Birthday Daddy!” on my teacher’s birthday :)) :))
  • The two times my teacher took my phone away even though I was putting my phone on airplane mode.
  • Those English worksheets that my teacher would give us almost every class.
  • That time when my teacher ranted for 5 minutes about how much he hated panda bears and penguins and wanted all of them to die.
  • The time we all made fun of him for wearing nothing but motorcycle boots everyday and having no shoe game. :))
  • When we watched Young Frankenstein in class and there was a sex scene between the monster and Young Frankenstein’s fiance.
  • There was this one girl in our class, I’ll call her C, who had a crush on the teacher. I remember this one time, our teacher told C to go sit back in her actual seat and this one really funny guy in our class, who I’ll call A (not from Pretty Little Liars), said “Yeah that’s right. You better listen to daddy!” I was crying! :)) :)) :)) She was so embarrassed and had to cool down outside for a second. Lol, A went too far! :))
  • One day when C was wearing hippie sweatpants, everyone was complimenting how good her booty looked! Everyone was saying “Booty Goals” or “Booty on Fleek”. Even our teacher thought so, as he stared at her booty for like 3 seconds and his eyes and mouth were wide open. A was like “Damn he definitely likes what he sees!” :)) :)) :))
  • One time, when C got mad about something he said and he looked like he was about to touch her and she said “Don’t touch me, I’m mad at you!” :))
  • When we were reading The Bet and he had only said “Now imagine I take one of you out to a cabin in the woods…” before we all pointed C.
  • When we were reading Julius Caesar, we all pointed to C to read as the the part of Brutus’s wife, as our teacher was reading for the part of Brutus.
  • And Much More!

I know everyone does it, but asking about or giving information about a test that someone has already taken is technically a form of cheating.

@apple1893 Also!

Pre-AP World History:

  • When we tried and guessed how many STDs Cleopatra probably had!
  • All the movies we watched!
  • Getting to know our student teacher!

Spanish 1:

  • Our class always talked a lot!
  • Our teacher was so lit and hip too.

Pre-AP Chemistry:

  • There were little to no good memories of this class. Except, when funny things actually happened.

Algebra 2:

-This class was literally so boring!

HPE 1:

-This was an okay class.

@snowfairy Oh yeah that’s true. My Chemistry and Algebra 2 teachers tried to combat this by giving out two different tests.

@LeopardFire He likes it. But I’m pretty sure it’s because all of his friends from middle school, and some from elementary school, are there. That’s perfectly okay with me. He said if he starts to not like it and he get good grades next year, he’ll transfer to another school through a specialty program.

OMG Guys! I can’t believe I’m actually going to my first college tour! I’m going to George Mason University tomorrow, then Virginia Tech on Monday.

Do you guys think there are any important questions I should be asking? I’m trying to make a list of questions to ask.

Next week’s going to be really fun! My dad just told me we’re planning a last minute trip to DC and that we’re going to go see the Smithsonian African American History Museum! We’re also going to the Air and Space Muesem! Next week’s gonna be LIT.

Also, I’m going to be getting my official schedule online next Friday. My county uses the Parent Portal system and if anyone had used it last year to get their schedules, you’d remember the horrendous Internet traffic jam that made everyone wait 30 minutes just to see our schedule! It was terrible!

@ak2018 where in NoVa are you that you have to plan a trip into DC it’s not that far

(Speaking as somebody from Ashburn lol)

OMG!!! School starts on Monday and my favorite teacher moved to a different school. I was supposed to be a tutor for her as a class…now I don’t know what class will be put in that place. If I’m put as a tutor for another teacher that i don’t know, then I don’t want to do it. :(( I don’t know what class I’m gonna replace now. I currently have:

1 & 2) AP Calculus AB/BC combined everyday
3) AP Physics 1
4) AP Language and Composition
5) H World History
6) H Comp Sci-Java (one semester)
6) Dance for Athletes (one semester)
7) Study Hall required
8) Tutoring??? need something else

I honestly need to find a class before everyone tries switching their schedules the first week of school.

I got an 88% on my first AP Chem test (review of last year) which is really depressing cause I could have sworn I got 100

@awesomepolygot LOL we just decided that we’d go there next Saturday. I’m in Prince William County, so it definitely isn’t far. We know we’ll be in less than an hour, but we are planning to go that day. That’s what I meant by planning!

@DaEmmJay23 What are your other options?

@ak2018 Either a gym class, a fourth year of French, or an AP lite.

@nyuhopeful44 I’m totally with you about Math in the morning. I honestly wouldn’t function, no pun intended, well having math in the morning. I have to have it in the middle. You did give me an idea about best and worse case scenarios. So I’ll do it too.

Best Case Scenario:

1st Period (Everyday): Spanish 2
2nd Period: Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics
3rd Period: Functions/Trigonometry
4th Period: AP English Language
5th Period: PLTW Principles of Engineering
6th Period: AP Chemistry
7th Period: U.S. and Virginia History

Worst Case Scenario:

1st Period (Everyday): Functions/Trigonometry
2nd Period: Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics
3rd Period: PLTW Principles of Engineering
4th Period: AP Chemistry
5th Period: U.S. and Virginia History
6th Period: Spanish 2
7th Period: AP English Language

@DaEmmJay23 I’d go with the fourth year of language, even if the teacher isn’t that good.
