@lollypip You might save yourself time by going ahead and skimming the passages in the writing section. You’re only skimming for a general understanding of the passage’s tone and purpose instead of for comprehension like in the reading section. There are three question types that come to mind. One question might ask you to place a sentence in the best place and another might ask you omit or add a sentence. There’s also always one question that asks you to pick the best word for a sentence based on the author’s style w/out sacrificing conciseness. You’re better off having already skimmed the paragraph before picking something. The author might also have used a specific technique (like parallelism or comparison) in previous sentences that you might miss if you only look specifically at the sentence addressed in the question. I agree w/ all of @BYL128 's tips except for writing.
I’m suuuper nervous for the PSAT today! I take it in about an hour, and I’m soooo not ready for the no calculator math section, because I haven’t been taught how to do stuff without a calculator since elementary school (I don’t get why they even want us to do stuff without calculators anyways… It’s not like there are college math classes where calculators are banned…) And I’m in Algebra 2, which means that I’m pretty much guaranteed to not know a lot of the math section. My only hope is the reading/writing portion!!!
Anyway, good luck to everyone taking the test today! Let the memes rain in!
I have tips!
-There are only a few hours left to do so, but I’ll say it anyway: CHARGE THEM CALCULATORRRRS
-The questions on the Reading that ask “which choice provides the best blah blah blah” can be used to find the answer to the previous question. Just match up the evidence to the answer! That is rather time-consuming, though, so it only makes sense to do so if you’re a really fast reader.
-If the math test asks for a percentage of a percentage, make the first percentage out of 100 people.
-If you have a TI-84, you can go to MODE and you can scroll down to the graph settings; there’ll be FULL, HORIZONTAL, and GRAPH-TABLE. Select the last one. Less clicking around!
-Also, set your calculator into a+bi mode.
-And degree mode.
-If you have any programs on your calculator, back them up now because they will wipe your calculator!
-CHARGE YOUR CALCULATOR
I feel like I should change the batteries, but i feel like if I do then they will turn out to be faulty and die on me. :(( Why does this have to be so stressful!?!?!
