I’ve been writing genral essay ideas down as I get them.
I actually just started to look into the"insight questions"/mini essays for the UC’s today! I’m a horrible writer so this should be fun…
If I have spare time I will probably look at them, but I probably won’t have free time until April. Winter break is out because I do my last week of work next week (break time) and I work most of the week, and I also have lots of APUSH to do. Musical keeps me busy practically every day until mid-March, and winter guard will be physically draining until the first weekend of April, aka Championships. Sooooo that’s a while away…
Indian here. Hardly a URM lol
Currently trying to take APUSH notes… feeling the procrastination train hit me head on in the face I just wanna sleeeeeeep!!!
Over break I have to make part of 3 presentations that are the week I get back and prep for finals which are the next week. Today is my first day of break too, my school is crazy.
A little late but I’m a twin too
She wants to go to Georgetown, and I want to go to Rice, so no competition drama here #:-S
My Top Schools are UCLA, NYU, USC, and Chapel Hill. UCLA is my dream school but I am really worried because I chose to study abroad in Spain this semester and my school counselor just emailed me and told me that my grades are going to count. My classes are all in spanish so im getting about Cs in most of them.
I worried this could hurt my chances of going to UCLA, what do you guys think?
happy holidays everyone!!
Have a merry christmas eve (:
@kitkat01 Why do your grades count? When exchange students come here, they don’t count at all. That doesn’t even make sense. I would protest.
Yeah i know it is messed up. Most of the other american exchange student’s grades dont matter but my school district has to count them. I am going to try and get them to do it as pass/fail instead of grades than go into my GPA but Im still worried about it hurting my college chances.
@kitkat01 If you can change them to Pass/Fail, it shouldn’t matter. It’s pretty impressive you traveled all the way to Spain.
I have to finish one chapter packet and notes by midnight tomorrow night (aka Christmas ugh!!!) and then over next week (my Christmas break) I have to do another chapter packet and notes. Also during break, I’m planning on watching Gone With the Wind with my mom so I can write a “review” on it and its historical in/accuracy. All of that is for APUSH haha I also want to try and get ahead on some essays I need to for AP Lit that are due by the end of the marking period.
My break isn’t exactly going to be a break haha especially because during this coming week I also work 4 days.
@Marg532 All my friends in APUSH are swamped as well. You’re not alone!! At least you’re a more informed American than I will ever be!
Oh APUSH. I loved that class and did well in it, but I imagine it was because I kept up with the readings (and often advanced ahead of the unit planner). For my classmates who had more of a proclivity for procrastination, it was more of an unpleasant experience.
If you don’t have it already, I recommend the AMSCO book for test prep/general brushing up. There may or may not be a free PDF online somewhere for those who are less financially fortunate.
There is a very nice Christmas gift for AP Students on cough r/APstudents cough.
I burned my fingers with a soldering iron so that’s all good.
@kitkat01 that sounds like such an amazing opportunity. That’s definitely something that could make you stand out. If Spanish is your second language, you could make it clear in your application that all these classes were in your second language, which explains the grade. It would look good because you are challenging yourself. It could be a great essay topic too. I hope you have a great experience!
@snowfairy137 oooh, that sucks. I got a pretty bad rope burn on both hands as a kid and couldn’t climb for a week, and then a small burn on my pinky (!) knocked me out for a few days when I was 12.
