@Potter3846 Depends if you school offers APs that you can take. If the maximum that the school offers is AP Calc, then go ahead and take it. If there’s like an online school that your district allows you to take AP classes, also try that. If they both are not options then I’d say maybe one or two self study, only do what you are capable of. Volunteering is not that big for some universities, it is based on what the experience you get and what you learn from it, so volunteering for a day more isn’t gonna help much if you already volunteer a lot.
@Bombgirls Oof. I had the same dilema this year, but my AP chem teacher was the same for chem honors and she was like the best AP teacher at my school. I’d say if you are going to be in a biology field, then take AP bio first. Since junior year, you would have taken AP bio, universities can see on your transcript that you did well in it. However, it leaves AP chem for senior year I’m assuming and that isn’t the best course for senior year, but if you are willing then sure.
@KennyStudies thanks for the advice! You make a valid point ? I think I will do as Bio first and save up chem for later see what happens by senior year
We’ve been discussing all of our schedules–but I am officially switching schools! I also guess I’m not class of 2021 anymore, as I reclassified to 2022.
Since schedules are the current discussion, I need some advice. My school doesn’t offer any ap classes, so should I self study and take an exam? If so, what classes can I self study for and what is the best way to do so?
My schedule for next year is
GT English 3 (DE)
GT Pre Calc
GT Bio 2
World History
Western Civ (DE)
That is exciting! It’ll be unfortunate to not see you on this forum anymore though
@CavsFan2003
@CavsFan2003 Wait how do you get reclassified?
@KennyStudies At prep schools for admissions you have the opportunity to apply as your current grade for a repeat year
Well I got a 1300 on my SAT (630 reading/writing and 670 math). I’m disappointed in the reading/Writing because it is 20 points below my practice SAT score but my math one is 40 points above. I improved from a 1220 psat to 1300 sat with no prep, so hopefully with some prep I can get up to a 1500 SAT/ 34 ACT.
Once I finish geometry and algebra 2 this year my math score should improve some more, and I’ll have to do some practice for the reading.
@stanford200381 Ooo congrats! I’m sure you’ll get there. Just curious, why are you taking the SAT now?
@KennyStudies thank you! And because I want to take physics next year and at my school you have to take the ACT/ SAT and get a certain score to qualify.
@stanford200381 That’s annoying. My school lets me take it as long as I have AP Calc.
@KennyStudies I agree! I originally was going to take physics and AP chem senior year, but we have a new AP bio course now; so I am going take AP chem and AP bio senior year.
@stanford200381 I just got news that my county might implement this new thing for dual enrollment where you can only take two per semester for junior year and three per semester for senior year…>.<
Schedule for next year:

as for ec’s, i don’t have much of anything right now because i have really severe mental health issues & a spine condition that required surgery so i couldn’t really do much until now. colleges will probably look down on me for not being involved until junior year.
i’m considering doing these:

volunteering at library (2 hours a week)
dance at local studio (7 hours a week)
weightlifting team (idk time commitment yet)
hosa (1 hour a week)
save promise club (1 hour a week)
