Hi can we revive this thread? How’s freshman year treating you guys…
Can’t wait for sophomore year!
@squ1rrel Freshman year has been a roller coaster for me. I go to a top 500 nationally ranked school in California and although it has been a good experience and I have made good friends, it has been a struggle for English Class. Our whole class has like Bs and Cs and like only 3 people have an A. Im one of the people who have Cs XD but like English hasn’t been my strongest subject. My other subjects Ive done well like bio honors 92% alg 2 94% French 91%
Heres my sophomore schedule
Summer School world history honors and online health
English 2 regular (english is notorious for having crazy amounts of hw at our school and I really hate english)
Math analysis/precalculus honors
AP Human Geo
French 2
Chem H
Tennis JV
@Cadmissionsnerdz nice! My school is decent but I live in New Hampshire. I’m way ahead of everyone because no one is competitive.
For the most part, I did not enjoy my freshman year. Many thanks to the teachers and friends who made this all bearable. Truthfully, the highlight of this school year was being accepted into some great high schools this past March.
@squ1rrel obviously ur top 10 in NATIONAL GEO BEE like omg
@Cadmissionsnerdz Lol do you know who I am? I choked miserably on stage. Should have deserved better smh
@squ1rrel dude u posted a thread and thats how i know
@Cadmissionsnerdz that’s good.
Whoop, looks like I’m late to the party of the fellow 2022’ers … Next year, I’ll be taking UWHS Pre-Calculus, Honors Chem, Honors English, AP World, AP Physics I and French III online. Got a lot of studying to do over the summer.
So far, freshman year has been pretty enjoyable, but it’s not the best I could have made it. Hopefully, that’ll change Sophomore year as I meet new people.
Nice
Took the Calc AB exam today, feels good now
I’m a bit late to the thread but my schedule for next year is
AP bio
AP music theory
Algebra 2/Trig honors
English 2 (honors isn’t offered)
German 2
Health (required for CA)
Bel canto honor choir
I’m excited but I’m also absolutely terrified for AP bio
@stress4college From what I understand, all you need in AP Bio is hard work. It’s more memorization than anything. Good luck!
My Course load for this year!
Spanish 2
Pre-AP Algebra 2 w/Trig
Foundations of Health Science
Pre-AP U.S. History 1
Pre-AP Chemistry
Pre-AP English 10
Concert Band
Marching Band
This is the highest course load at my HS! You cant take AP courses till 11th grade in Alabama (IK it sucks). i will end up taking 8 AP classes in total by the time i graduate (AP Lang, AP Lit, AP U.S. History 2, AP Gov(Semester) AP Economics(Semester), AP calculus AB, AP Bio, and AP Chem.)
@SchoolLover22 That AP policy tho Other than that, looks good!
We need more ppl on this thread lol
@squ1rrel yea the AP policy sucks, but I will be taking 3 AP’s in 11th grade and 5 in 12th grade. So I’ll still end up with 8 AP classes. Also most of the schools I’m interested in going to have a limit on how many AP classes can count as credit.
The 3 Ap one year and 5 Ap the next is common at my school. Some people think it’s a lot but it’s the best way to get the AP’s you want/need in 2 years.
Since this is a thread, I guess I’ll hop onto it. This is my course for the upcoming year:
H English 10
H Alg 2
H Geometry
H Chem
APUSH
APCSA
Health 2/Career Exploration (required for all sophomores)
Spanish 2
Anyone have any experience with APUSH or APCSA? These are the first APs I’m taking.
@DiamondHawk I’m taking those two as well next year. APUSH difficulty depends on the teacher, but the exam itself shouldn’t be hard, if you pay attention in class and can write well. APCSA is easy if you are good at STEM subjects.
@squ1rrel That’s a relief. I’d consider myself a strong writer, and I’m decent at STEM as well.
Anyone on here following the new Texas High School legislation requirements of submitting FAFSA to be able to graduate starting with the class of 2022?
How are they going to track this, will the high school have access to your private financial documents? How will you be able to opt out? How are they going to get undocumented kids/parents to file since FAFSA asks about citizenship, what good would it be for them since they don’t qualify for PELL or subsidized student loans? What about kids that don’t plan to go to college?
I think this is going to be a real mess and just can’t see how overworked GCs are going to manage it.
