High school student from Maryland interested in top Civil Engineering schools [4.0 UW, 1430 SAT, 30K/yr]

Virginia Tech engineering is not really a safety .It is a top program with holistic admissions They don’t accept many top students every year .Also, not much merit aid.

Agree with the idea of adding one or two absolute safety schools.

Unsolicited advice: You have a lot of reach schools on your list. Many of them will require supplements. These supplements should be thoughtful and (to the extent possible) school specific. Be sure to leave sufficient time to write out meaningful supplements – even if you need to cut some schools off of your list.

This may not matter to you, but I’m pretty certain that Wash U does not have a true Civil Engineering program; it is a joint program with UM-St. Louis. I also believe their Environmental Engineering is still waiting on ABET certification. FYI
