Higher than expected acceptance rate?

Looking back at last year’s results thread, it looked to me that close to 50% of applicants on CC got accepted, about 40% deferred, and a handful rejected. I know there is a larger pool this year, but do you think it will be significantly different?

Also, do you think it is because accepted students are more likely to post their results than deferred/rejected ones?

Whoa! I think you’re overguestimating, even if this is CC. There’s one way to check, though. We’re compiling a pledge list here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/608964-yale-2013-scea-pledge-report-your-decision-list.html.

Hopefully, this will help future prospective Yalies.

Definitely.

"Also, do you think it is because accepted students are more likely to post their results than deferred/rejected ones? "

Hopefully the ‘pledge to report your decision’ topic will reduce the difference in likelihood a bit

This is the thread:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/432748-final-official-early-decisions-thread.html

I think the official 2013 one is this ----> http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/608402-official-yale-2013-scea-decisions-thread.html

The one you mentioned, Ace, was from 2012. Or maybe I missed something? Oh, well. Tomorrow is fast approaching!

Traditionally CC has a much higher acceptance rate because it is a highly self-selective sample.

This year’s decision thread promises to be a treasure for all future applicants. 103 decisions and counting! Truly epic.

^true, but CC’s high acceptance rate is also because rejectees will most likely not post up their stats

I have a feeling that a great deal of people who pledged to report might not…simply because in the past a lot of people haven’t reported decisions. but maybe not.

Mm I don’t know if looking at stats on CC is very accurate or helpful… People can lie.
