Hey! I STRONGLY suggest Howard University! Not only is it a reat University academically, but it’s amazing in theatre. I am from Chicago, and we have an all black equity theatre company here (Congo Square Theatre Company) Who’s ensemble mainly consist of Howard graduates, and they are without a doubt some of the talented bunches of people i’ve ever seen! I would also suggest looking at Carnegie Mellon as well! Although the university itself is not that diverse, in the theatre program they usually make an effort to highly diversify it. I know about 6 of their students who are black and have recieved full ride scholarships there. I’m currently at Webster University in St.Louis. The University is VERY diverse, but the theatre program is not. In my MT class of 19 there are only 3 blacks kids in the program (2 more girls in acting). Not that it is a bad thing, because I absolutely love it! I would like to see more of my people get involved though.
