Hit - beautiful Kate Spade rose gold bracelet from D - inscribed with “Stop and Smell the Roses”.
Don’t think there were any absolute misses! My mother never seems happy with any gift I give her so I think I’ll just stop trying so hard and accept that.
Anticipated Hit (we will see them and exchange this weekend)-My granddaughter is my parents’ first great-grandchild. They are always telling me that they love her so much they could just eat her up. I found and got them a custom toaster from Burnt Impressions that imprints the baby’s picture onto the toast! It really looks like her and now they can literally “eat her up” every morning. For me, this is one of the favorite gifts I have ever given.
@GMTplus7 you just reminded me that I need to get the kids to complete their Global Entry applications - D complained bitterly about the lines in Logan coming out of Boston before christmas. Said the global entry would have put her in the much shorter TSA pre-check line. Said she almost missed her flight.
HITS: S loves his wool peacoat, a gift from D. He also loves all the gift cards to restaurants as he doesn’t like to cook. H loves his hiking boots, also a gift from D. I love my gift card to my favorite restaurant, a gift from S. D loved her new Frye boots, a gift from SIL. SIL is so sweet - he’s happy with everything. H was in charge of stockings this year. He went wild and could have filled about twenty stockings. I loved spending time with H, S, D, and SIL.
Some hits - my (hopefully) future DIL loved her Kindle Fire. Ditto for my SIL with a Polo robe. My best gift is that my kids found wonderful significant others. Online shopping was also big hit and a huge timesaver for me this year. For the teenage nephew who doesn’t ask for anything, the shares of stock from Sparkgift turned out to be a hit.
I guess the toys I bought for the great nieces and nephews were misses. Paper ripped off, gifts tossed aside, not even a “thank-you”. I can sympathize with the poster above who carefully assembled the baking baskets. I didn’t go to near as much trouble but the gifts were all listed as “high-priority” on their gift registries.
I have to say that my nieces and nephews were very gracious this year if they didn’t like what I gave them. Everyone is college age with one in HS. The girls got Kendra Scott necklaces that I found on clearance at Nordstrom. Both girls said they really liked them. My nephew in HS who is super preppy, I found a t shirt from southern marsh or southern tide or some such place. His sister texted me that he took off the shirt he was wearing and put the one I got him and wore it to the airport. I think that was a win.
Another nephew is into coffee, so I got him a couple pounds of locally roasted organic beans and a container. He seemed touched that I thought about what he would like.
My win was that my H thought about me and got me bright pink golf balls. I usually play with whatever he finds on the course. I am thrilled to have my own girly golf balls.
Not too many misses. The lululemon stuff I bought my D was too small and has to be exchanged. Lulu sizes can be all over the place so it wasn’t too bad.
Finally a hit. Just arrived on my porch. From my best friend. The Sherlock Holmes Mind Palace colouring book. Just in time for the big show on new years day.
