T990: It probably is and I’m just idealistic.

I was considering Wesleyan, Brown, Yale, and some others just by virtue of the fact that they are larger and supposedly rather intellectually diverse. I suppose there is no way real way to determine if any one of these schools will “fit” - I just will have to visit frequently and put a lot of thought into this…in any case, I have another year to search if I remain dissatisfied. It should be noted that HC was not my first choice, nor even one of my top five - I was WL’ed just about everywhere else - and yes, I should have put a lot more thought into where I applied my senior year.

And it’s not simply “intellectual discussion,” it’s more like an overall lack of intellectual vibrancy. Again, this may be happening everywhere. I have no way of knowing. I just have to hope that it isn’t the case…or simply deal with it, I suppose!

I don’t want to discourage people from applying to or even attending HC. Just because it’s not a fit for ME personally doesn’t mean it’s not a great school. With that said, VERY few students actually transfer from HC, and most of my friends love it here.

Anyway, I think I’m done discussing my situation.
