I know for a fact that HC has one of the most well-respected Classics Departments in the nation. It is extremely strong in Philosophy, PoliSci, and English as well. To tell you the truth, I don’t think there is a “weak” department here. I can also tell you that HC is very, very good at getting kids into their top-choice grad schools.

HC has a very nice campus; it keeps up appearances. I’ve heard it’s won some awards for it. In any case, the new buildings are lovely inside and out, but the older ones are truly skeezy. The Chapel is gorgeous, as is Smith. Swords & O’Neil (they’re connected) are sort of strange, there’s a botanical garden in between them …Swords can also boast of stairs modeled after DNA strands. Speaking of stairs - yes, there are MANY MANY stairs all around campus, as it’s quite hilly…but that simply means we have powerful butts up on the Hill! It’s a relatively small campus, which means it’s not too difficult to become familiar with.

Classes are really, really small; I haven’t taken one with more than 25 kids as of yet. We get a great amount of attention from professors.

I would also recommend FYP!

I won’t lie to you, it’s not for everyone. I happen to be attempting to transfer this year, so just make sure you visit as many times as you can, sit in on classes, spend the night (if possible)…etc…yeah.
