Home repairs ... in what order?

Milguard Windows we bought that had cranks had the cheap metal corrode and need replacement. H had to research for years to find how to order and get replacement parts.

I’d check into where and how to get any replacement parts for whatever you install. My sis built a new home and already has some broken windows for which she can’t get any replacement parts!

I like double hung windows better than casement. We do have four casement windows…two above the kitchen sink, and one on each side of a nook in the breakfast room. Our house plans actually called for casement windows and we changed to double hung. Our old house has Anderson casements…and every single one had stripped cranks.

We pretty much have to go through the same process…$$$$$$…yikes. Don’t replace garage doors until you come close to a final paint color. Then tweak your paint color to match the new doors.

To help budget the cost, our neighbors had the house painted one year and the trim the next.

@thumper1 - I’m curious. When we redo our kitchen (fingers crossed…) I was planning on making one window casement because it will be just above a counter. I can’t see my 5’4" self being able to reach over a counter and open and close a double hung window. I know I won’t be able to reach the lock!

Over the kitchen sink is a very common location for casement windows even if the rest of the house has double hungs.

we have a large window over the kitchen sink with 2 casement windows- cant live without them

Replace windows throughout house would be first on my to do list!
garage door replacement is easy (not as a do it yourself project but as a 4-5 hour job with no interference with your life like a window replacement ) make sure the company that does it replaces that tracks and everything!

@greenwitch Yes…the window above our kitchen sink is a casement window. The rest of our house is double hung.

Sorry…edit function isn’t working!

In addition to the casement above our kitchen sink, we also have an Anderson sliding Frenchwood door in our breakfast room. On either side of that there is a casement window…sort of like a bay window area…except it’s a door.

As an aside…all of our windows have dividers in them except the casements and the French door. We wanted this to be just plain glass…no little dividers. It looks great.
