I kept hearing this infomercial on the radio and I did not like the flashes and night sweats which started this past spring. I ordered it, took it for the 30 days as specified and and it worked. I have not had a hot flash or night sweat since. My flashes went away as quickly as they appeared and have not returned. I am NOT a distributor NOR a promoter, reseller, stockholder or anything else for this product, but it seemed to work for me. It is call Amberen. knock on wood!

I’m 54, no period for three months. Never had a hot flash. Feel normal in all respects. I feel as if I’m missing an important aspect of the sisterhood by not having hot flashes.

Same age, periods every two/two and a half months(keep thinking it’s going to be longer…) no hot flashes here either…very sympathetic to others, but selfish enough to be glad I’ve missed that aspect of the sister hood!

My first round of hot flashes were full body. The ones I am having now (if they are even hot flashes) seem to only be in my head. It gets that really hot sensation and then it subsides. MRI of head is clear.

We probably don’t need to discuss this one publicly , but if anyone else is having “dryness” issues, know that you are not alone!

FWIW-My hot flashes are full-body and, although mostly at night, I have them round the clock.

cgpm59-you might want to check with your doc. A period after none for a couple of years could be indicative of something else. Not trying to scare you, but it could be your body’s way of alerting you of a disorder of some sort.

I am curious if those of you who are fully menopausal are on HRT, and, if so, why did you make that choice? It seems like it’s natural to let your hormones decline.

I decided years ago that I would NOT do HRT unless my symptoms were unbearable. The hot flashes have been unpleasant, but not debilitating (though I have never confused them with a power surge). I thought perimenopause was worse - every month a new adventure, never knowing what to expect, or when. And my every health problem seemed related to perimenopause - there’s a depressingly long list of symptoms: [35 Symptoms of Menopause ? The Perimenopause Blog](http://www.theperimenopauseblog.com/symptoms-of-perimenopause/)

Some women do have a truly horrific time with menopause. I can understand why they’d choose HRT.

I’ve found that it’s best not to draw any conclusions about the duration of menopause too soon. For me, the hot flashes come and go. I did use Black Cohosh for quite a while and found it helped quite a bit. I also learned that alcohol is a huge trigger for me and that even a small amount of wine can give me major problems at night. Interestingly, the other thing that gives me flashes is when I get angry. The good news for me is that about six years into menopause, the flashes are less frequent, not nearly as severe, and the insomnia has also subsided. And I’ve actually lost weight. Somehow I find that without all those hormones, I’m not crazy hungry at times like I used to be.

I’m on the other side now at 62 but when I was in the throes of menopause I had two symptoms that I haven’t read about in this thread. I’d love to know if anyone else experienced them. The first was that I began making things and trying new techniques. I sewed, I needlepointed, I painted, I made things. I still do but not at such a frenzied pace. And the second symptom was the Period That Did Not End. Twice I had periods that lasted four months and only stopped when I had a D&C. Horrible. Anyone else?

Nesting?
I know a couple people who’ve had change of life babies. Some rumor going around that your ovaries give a last hurrah, & kick up the hormones.

My H is fixed, so I don’t have to worry about that.

I went though menopause at 47- 5 years ago my periods just stopped amd that was that. I continue to be plagued by hot flashes at times… they come and go. I also went through some periods of worrying about how my brain functions changed (wondering why I was standing in a room looking for…what was I looking for? And where did I put my keys?) and feeling anxious and stressed. I have adjusted to my differently functioning brain, the anxiety is pretty much gone and life is better in lots of ways. Dry, thin skin is an issue and I feel like I am aging much faster than woman who are still menstruating…but I don’t want to mess with hormones, so I am going au natural!!!

Oh lord, do you mean my memory is going to get worse?

Methinks Ram2.0 should get back to finalizing his essays and apps and stop trying to rile up the older, wiser folks.

Yes, EK! I’ll have to teach you my technique for remembering if I have brushed my teeth or not… pick up toothbrush and touch it to face. If it feels wet, one has already brished 'em. If dry…one has not!

What Is amazing is half the worlds population will go thru menopause yet so little is talked about. Meanwhile ED gets lots of air time.

Don’t forget about Low-T.

Me! The D&C took care of it, but I swear I kept the pad manufacturers in business for a couple of years before that. I have hot flashes now, but I’ll take them any day over the flooding periods that soaked through almost everything and lasted for weeks/months. I was shocked that I wasn’t anemic during that time; it was awful!

Starting this up again. I’m 53 and have been in peri menopause for the past couple of years. Mainly, shorter periods, but still monthly, waking up in the early mornings with hot flashes. They don’t last long, but it disrupts my sleep. I’ll wake up about 3 in the morning and then be ready to fall asleep again when it’s time to wake up. November was the first month, I skipped a period. Thought I was beginning the end and then I had my period in December. Now, this is the worst thing about my latest symptoms - I am becoming a raving lunatic! I’m irritable & angry for no reason, unreasonable and feel like I can’t take one more life changing event in my life and there have been plenty lately. I have felt this way for 2 weeks and am thinking of seeing a doctor about hormones or an anti depressant, but don’t want to take pills. Anyone else experienced the mood changes and what did you do to survive?

Oh, I forgot, last week, I had migraines almost every night, bad enough that they woke me up! Yuck! :(

laserp, sounds like pills of some sort may be the answer. Why not take them if they will help?

I keep thinking that going without any medication would be better. I’m a bit of a pill freak, but the symptoms lately have been severe enough that I’m going to check out my options. Up until the last month, I’ve been pretty good, and somehow, I thought maybe I had dodged the bullet. Now, I’m not so sure! I think if I could get back to sleeping well, a lot of my other symptoms would improve. Have never had problems sleeping before so it’s a bit new to me. What are some natural ways to aid sleep that have worked?
