Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet - June CC Book Club Selection

SJCM, To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books of all time, but I think I have it memorized at this point! Too bad Harper Lee didn’t write anything else. :(

In case anyone is making an excel database
Amazon - Forgotten Garden 471 reviews - getting redundant -4 1/2 stars

[Amazon.com: The Forgotten Garden: A Novel (9781416550556): Kate Morton: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Forgotten-Garden-Novel-Kate-Morton/dp/1416550550/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308332899&sr=8-1)

This is probably overly ambitious given our time constraints, but wouldn’t it be fun to do a dual read-–both The Secret Garden and The Forgotten Garden? We’d satisfy cravings for both classic and modern titles and have a lot to discuss in the process. But it might be too radical an idea. :)

^^^ love this idea …with kindle now, it’s so easy to obtain books. I think it could be done ! Something different.

No paperback edition available yet for The Paris Wife, so … maybe later …

My top five choices:

The Forgotten Garden - probably my #1 choice at the moment

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - just such a good choice for so many reasons - my almost-#1 choice

and the remaining three in no particular order

The Invisible Bridge

The Postmistress - it’s sitting on a shelf here too at the moment

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Oh my! Love the idea.

^^I like the idea also. It’s summer, if I’m going to do it, now is the time.

These are my top 3 choices:

The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain (but I can wait until the paperback is available)

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot

I loved, loved, loved “The Secret Garden” as a kid. I would definitely do the dual read – or actually, for me it’s only a single read since I’ve read"The Forgotten Garden." And that would be fine since we’re in the process of moving and things may be a little crazy this summer.

I do read a lot, but being in all the various Book Clubs isn’t as impressive as it sounds since quite a few books repeat between clubs. We did “Water for Elephants,” for example, in every club I belong to!

I’m down for the “Garden duet” - sounds like a great idea! One public domain read (that would be free on Kindle!) and one modern related book.

Wonderful! That’s six in favor and none opposed! Motion passed! The “Garden duet” it is.

I’ll start a new thread.
