Hotel recommendations in Barcelona and Athens?

Great! Our hotel was also right by the venue!

We got the guided tour of Sagrada by default (no other way to get tix) but SO glad we did!
We would’ve missed so much. It’s absolutely beautiful but without a guide pointing out areas with some background and history it would just be a building rather than the work of art it is.

We stayed at the Herodion Hotel in Athens. Central location, and amazing food at the rooftop restaurant with a great view of the Acropolis.

We also stayed at the Eco Hotal Grau and really enjoyed it. It’s a bit more barebones than other places we stayed in Spain - no TV in the room for example, very plain modern furniture and a few funky decorations on the wall. Many of the rooms have Juliet balconies. There was a lounge off the lobby where you could borrow books and there were some kids toys there too I think. We really enjoyed their breakfast. It was mostly self serve with a variety of interesting pastries and cakes. There was also a someone who made eggs to order. The location is extremely convenient. There were some smaller tables, but most people sat together and talked to each other. On a long trip we enjoy the opportunity to talk to other people beside just the two of us. Drinks were available on the honor system in the hall and the dining area. The eco part seemed to be mostly recycling bins in the hall.
